Wow, I don't know how I missed that one. From reading the reviews it obviously should fit the frame and motor.

Thanks, I will get it ordered once I get my sprockets narrowed down. (edited)

just remember that the front sprocket range is 9-12 tooth a 13 can fit with slight case mods. the rear sprockets are all about finding what fits the wheel you have, but you don't really want to go to low of a number or you won't leave the line. 36 and 38 teeth rear sprockets are great to tune with. I would get the parts you want over time and do all the work at one time so that you can ride the ped now.

Re: Bought a General 5 Star LE but it does not match the Wiki

Yesterday - Cleaned the fuel tank and carburator. Tank had very old gas in it. Removed the petcock and it poored out like maple syrup. Flushed with several gallons of gas. Cleaned the carb float, main jet and idle circuit. Installed a large see thru inline fuel filter just before the carb. Installed new 6 volt battery. Filled tank with fresh fuel and turned gas on to attempt first start.. Gas started spraying from the plastic banjo fitting on the carb. Removed fitting again and inspected, plastic had a small age crack in it, rats!!! Cleaned fitting up good and sealed up crack with some 2 part epoxy and let it sit over night to cure. Ordered a new METAL banjo fitting from Treats. Went to bed.

Today - installed epoxy repaired banjo fitting and turned on fuel, it sealed. Boy attempted to start engine, fired up in 3 revolutions. Adjusted idle needle and he took it for a ride.

Runs out great, 28 mph. (edited)

Very much so. He had a ball riding it around today. I took him down the road to where all of his school buddies live to ride it around. All of his buddies are going to get mopeds now.

I am taking him to the DMV after school tomorrow to see about his moped license and registering the the biike.

Re: Bought a General 5 Star LE but it does not match the Wiki

They ( your son's buddies ) will be hard pressed to find that nice of a bike for that price, you got a sweet bike for the price.

Huzzah! This thread makes me happy! :)

Re: Bought a General 5 Star LE but it does not match the Wiki

Jason,

As you can tell, the General is a valued model by this moped community. You found a gem. The Minarelli V1 engine is easy to find aftermarket parts for and easy to build up.

if you go here: GARAGE GENERALS

You will be able to see some other generals that folks have restored and rebuilt. Browsing that search of the GARAGE should help you find some pipe/ carb and gearing combos that other people are using on General 5 Stars.

enjoy it!

Is that a "FoxTrot" reference?

It's a casino game called Craps. Play the field and 12 or double sixes (called box cars too) pay two to one. Have seen three to one on a table too. I'm still trying to figure out how you dug this 7 year old thread up (edited)
