motobecane missing decompression lever

Lawrence Veinotte /

hello everyone, I picked up my first moped a week or so ago, a motobecane, its in quite nice shape, but the decompression lever is missing, i'm hoping someone could post a pic of what it looks like and how it works, I see where the cable goes to the hand set but how it would pull on the cable is not clear to me, thanks for any help

Re: motobecane missing decompression lever

Here’s a diagram, the decomp lever “set-up” is very similar to the choke lever on the left side perch, cable goes through a pinch bolt.

oh thanks, that is it, I just tried it and it works, it needs to be setup better and the throttle just pulls right off but it all an easy fix, thanks, maybe i'll get to take it for a spin this weekend.

Re: motobecane missing decompression lever

Just hold it done manually while pushing the bike while keeping handle bars straight have one finger on the decompression and one arm on the handle bars to get momentum
