Batavus clock

Moped Lar (OFMC) /

I finally fixed this rare Batavus clock properly. It now keeps perfect time and is whisper quiet. I’m gonna put nicer hands on it when they arrive next week.

I actually had two of these clocks, both non-working, but I sold the other one a few years ago. It had a slightly different clock face.

Re: Batavus clock

That's so cool! I'd love to have one like that.

It’ll have a nice home in my new house in VA in my Vespa/Moped room off the garage.

Re: Batavus clock

Very cool!

Best thing 4 a bad back I avoided "needed" surgery for 25 years.

I couldn’t avoid back surgery. I had major numbness and pain in my legs when I walked or stood in the same place for more than a couple minutes. Post-surgery pain was rough, but it was well worth it.

Nice clock. Way better than my Sigarms clock.

Re: Batavus clock

Table work is good therapy. When I was down with a compound tib/fib, I rebuilt a half dozen Mikuni carbs and a couple of those tiny Roadmaster McCollugh nightmares.

If I could have walked away from that I would have..lol

Re: Batavus clock

I always called him Alvus or Alvis.

I thought it would be like olaff or johan...

Re: Batavus clock

Why do you keep trying to make a Batavian (original Dutch ancestors) sound like a Swede?

Re: Batavus clock

Really like this clock

Re: Batavus clock

Case in point I don't know any Dutch names.

Bas is actually a very Dutch name, but Batavians would've had (West) Germanic names. Tacitus will probably have name-dropped a few in his writings.

Thanks Don!

Re: Batavus clock

I saw one back in the day with the Batavian caveman wielding the club, Oh if I knew then what I know now, it would be hanging in my garage.
