Upswept pipe for hackin'?

Brandon Weiss (Detective brandon to you) /

Nearing the end of my Rd50 project, and I've been thinking for awhile about my pipe options. In the end I dont think cutting open and hacking up the stock pipe will work well..performance wise as well as welding back together with all that carbon/oil permeation. I really wanted to keep the dirtbike upswept pipe aesthetic. Heres what the stock pipe looks like.

Does anybody know of any circuit style or other dirtbike/motorcycle pipes that have a 90 degree bend "L" shaped chamber, as opposed to your usual proma circuit pipe that has a "G" shaped profile? I suppose I could make it work by cutting and rotating a few parts, but having the L shape would make hacking it and fitting it to the bike much easier.

I considered using a kx65 pipe and the like, but I think it would be useless as far as power delivery for a mild mannered 65cc metrakit cylinder. I'm looking for more grunt than revs. A friend of mine recommended a dt50 mx pipe that Dos had awhile ago which had the perfect shape, and I regret not buying it. TIA!

Re: Upswept pipe for hackin'?

people been rewelding those. There are lots little dirtbike carbs too, the cobra/ktm50 morini s6 pipes are pretty cheap and available with a real aggressive punch and dirtbike design.

I was also gonna suggest the more modern DT50,MT50,TS50 range of pipes but seems you've already tried to get down that road.

dt50lc pipes are all over the plate

Dirty30 Dillon /

The stock DT50LC pipe is crazy heavy and has a huge flange.

Looking for aftermarket AM6 senda pipes might be the jam

Thanks for the suggestions! I found this KTM 50 pipe on Ebay, looks more or less like what I need. Only thing wrong is that the mounting tab is on the wrong side, i can make it work though.

Before I pull the trigger I'll see what else may come my way.

I'll check what I have here. We have a few oddballs that's might be a good candidate.

Re: Upswept pipe for hackin'?

peugeot doppler ball joint and a ktm65 pipe work perfectly.

That's RAD! I couldnt really come up with the mental picture of what it might look like if I cut up a proma to work, amazing. Certainly food for thought.
