Gilera GSA50

Heh heh heh.... headlight switch... lol....

This thing is so dumb.

I’m so giggly about it.

Looks just like it did it in the pics when Tyler put it up in buy & sell, lol

But here's a picture of where the kickstart lever got me while I was trying to bump start it.

Re: Gilera GSA50

Those are really neat looking. 80's as fuck.

Re: Gilera GSA50

It has no brake light. At all. No wiring for one. No switches. Nothing. Lol.

Re: Gilera GSA50

I know on older 50cc Vespa scooters they had no brake lights because it wasn't require, I figure by the time this Gilera was made they were. I guess Italy figured no one stays behind a "moped" anyway?

Re: Gilera GSA50

A ton of Euro bikes weren't not required to have a brake light, only tail marker.

Glad you like the Gilera, I was very tempted to grab it last time I was down there but I already have a handful of euro only bikes to work on.

Don't know what you call it but your diction is wrong. do you even proof read bro ;)

It's called grammar. And no, I did not proofread Alexander Hernandez of Miami, FL, as evident by my accidental double-negative.

Re: Gilera GSA50

iam just clowning. since your always correcting everyone's grammer I figured I would return the favor.

**grammar**

Re: Gilera GSA50

Keep it up dude. Don't know where the English language on M.A would be without you.

Re: Gilera GSA50

So now I’m trying to decide on how to give it a brake light. There is a spot in the tail lamp reflector for one, it just has no contacts, so tgat part is easy.

I’d rather not change out the controls.

Any suggestions? I am thinking maybe a switch on the rear brake drum arm.

Re: Gilera GSA50

Ain’t figured out what I wanna do about the lights, but at least I found an appropriate riding jacket.

Re: Gilera GSA50

Emgo used to make inline brake switches. When you pull the brake, the cable housing compresses and pressed the switch. I don't see them in the catalog anymore though.

I do have brake cables with a similar switch already inline. I can bring a couple down with me and maybe you can rob the switches out of them or just use the whole cable.

Re: Gilera GSA50

I also applaud your desire for safety. I love group rides where people have functioning brake lights and mirrors.(edited)

Re: Gilera GSA50

no bike pic? laaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaame...

Like this? I never knew such a thing existed, lol, I hadn't even thought to look.

You know where I live. Come see it in person. Leave the chickens alone though

Re: Gilera GSA50

Went riding around today, managed a top speed of 28 mph. For those of you that know Vespinos does that sound reasonable for a stock set up or am I in need of some serious tuning?

Re: Gilera GSA50

Re: Gilera GSA50

There's the hobbit rear brake cable with the switch in-line, you could use one of those

Re: Gilera GSA50

Dirty30 Dillon /

@Thomas, 30 is average for the older Vespinos. The F18 had about 3.2 HP and did 35-36.

Re: Gilera GSA50

Damn this thing is stupid. I love it. It’s slower than a stock Ruckus, lol.

Re: Gilera GSA50

I did a ton!!! ~tonnnnn~ of work to that bike. It really doesn’t need anything. I think i took it down to every bit and piece and put it together again.

That being said. It has no brake light! Just like most other euro mopeds.

Enjoy it!!!! For what it is. Please don’t work on it

I gave it a brake light! I also have fresh tires for it but haven't put them on yet.

Other than that I've done nothing..... yet....
