Motobecane CDI le partie

Richard Camacho /

I recently purchase the 75.00 cdi by le parti I spent three days trying to start it with no luck installation instructions where very simple I grounded the stator black wire to the enging, the black wire from the cdi box to the frame as well as a black wire for the coil and attached the orange wire to the coil as well. The red wire from the stator to the red wire on the cdi box and the green wire from stator to the cdi box and the black and white wire from cdi box to the kill switch yellow wire for the lights anyway no matter what I did it would not start I then decided to remove it and throw it in garbage piece of crap. Well I installed my original stator back on and my engine fire right up on a freshly rebuilt engine maybe I got a defective item I dont know if theres any returns on electrical part maybe I should look for a more expensive part.

Re: Motobecane CDI le partie

you didnt mention anything about setting the timing via flywheel. moped wont start if the spark isn't just before TDC.

did you read the instructions linked on the Items page ?

Re: Motobecane CDI le partie

ill give 20 for your garbage.

Today I decided to reinstall it once again brought up the piston to top dead center untill the pulley line up with the mark on the stator then I turned the pulley counter clockwise to the left about 1/2 inch then push the pulley inward then tighten the flywheel nut with a cordless drill then she started right up. The only I discover is that I can start the engine without the decompression I thought on motobecane engines it was a must to use the decompression as well with the choke it's all good now. The only problem I also d oh discover was that the new treats variator does not variator it does not move inward at high speeds the engine did not rotate back and Forward so I install my old one back on and she now works perfect.

Check timing with a light and Puch corn timing paper! If I remember .9mm = 1 degree so aim for like 14mm

You probably don’t need to de compression because it’s has such lil timing. I had a Motobecane that would run at like 0 degrees but run horrible

And ground everything! I’m not joking like seriously everything! (edited)

It’s not a variator then it’s basically just a single speed pulley system

This is not how you time your ignition. You need to properly time it within 0.x mm's to be successful. Otherwise, no matter how many parts your throw at it, it will not function.

Re: Motobecane CDI le partie

CDI timing is most happy at 1,2mm BTDC. make a piston stop from a old long reach spark plug, so easy to set timing this way. Got to tdc, turn in timing tool until it touches the crown, rotate the crank backward, turn the timing tool one full turn in (pitch s 1,25 so this gives timing very close), turn crank forward for piston t touch timing tool, place your flywheel on and rotate flywheel to spark initiation, lock that sucker down. DONE!
