Puch speedometer needle wiggles

Do all Puch vdo speedo needles bounce/wiggles back and forth a little while riding? Is it because the speedo is cable driven? My car speedo holds steady so I'm wondering are all moped speedos like this?

yes, its a moped.

Re: Puch speedometer needle wiggles

Mine wiggles.

Probably shouldn’t but I never thought much about.

Re: Puch speedometer needle wiggles

Google says:

Dry lube (graphite powder)

Cable straight as can be

Cable ends tightened all the way down.

you can fix that by removing it

Best fix for this. You can also replace the speedo with something useful like a temp gauge.

But yes, all of mine have had a bounce.

You probably need a new cable, the ends to be straight or non-kinked it should be smooth Not jumpy

Re: Puch speedometer needle wiggles

Take the drive apart and refresh the grease .

While the cable is off drench it with cable lube , so it runs out the other end .

Take the speedo off and turn it upside down . Apply very light weight oil to the drive socket and walk away for a bit , come back a do it again . Repeat a couple more times and the last time leave it upside down over night .

Put every thing back together and run it . It should be fairly steady .

My speedo does not jump , bounce or wiggle . It functions as smoothly , as it should .

Re: Puch speedometer needle wiggles

I like things that wiggle.

Re: Puch speedometer needle wiggles

The local strip joint charges $10 for a lap dance for an entire song. They also charge a buck for a 30 to 60 second wiggle.

^^I like things that wiggle, too.

@ 2:40

Love squiggly too

Re: Puch speedometer needle wiggles

i had one that used to go crazzy, like spin both ways, and stop and start and wiggle like crazy. i ran it, it was awesome. i'm pretty sure it told the future in a language unbeknownst to me. i swear i've had some that were super chill, no wiggle, perfectly accurate next to a cell phone gps, and some that... tell the future...
