22T rear sprocket on a v1?

I bought a NOS rear wheel from DOS for my Cimatti and it came with a 22 tooth rear sprocket. Can I run one that small with a 10 front? or should I swap back to the stock 44T

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

swap it back to 44t.

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

That's what I was figuring. What italian bikes came with a 22 rear?

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

kinda sounds like a tomos geared rim. im not sure about gearing on different minarelli motors. it could be correct for others. if it is a true oem cimatti rim 22t will never work on v1. that much i know.

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

It wasn't a cimatti rim necessarily, just a NOS rim for a v1/italian bikes

I'll swap it out, was just curious

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

I've gone as low as a 36 rear sprocket, but it won't climb hills worth a darn. If you live in a flat area, that thing would probably hit 60 mph but take forever to get there.

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

Definitely not flat haha. San Diego is hilly as hell. 10x44 will be good for that

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

That should get you 25. A 9 will get you 20 with better hill climbing. I understand the make an 8? 17 tops.

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

You can get away with a 10/34 or 11/34 with some hill climbing ability if it's kitted.

That was probably a 2spd but yeah Tomos and Minarelli use z sprockets

Lowest I've run is 11x33 and the setup I have tops out right around 52-55 mph depending on winds

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

The Minarelli is geared about twice as high as an MO or Mo2 OR M1 engine. You gear it to a sprocket meant for Morinis(biggest rear sprocket on Morini I've seen is 34T), and you'll be walking the ped up long hills. Of course, front sprocket can change a lot.

I could very well be a NOS Cimatti wheel... you're just assuming that it's V1 powered.

I've never seen a Cimatti that was later than 1970s without a Minarelli . (edited)

Dirty, go to photos on this site. 70+ Cimattis…............…...all I see are Minarellis.

Don, I can't stop you from googling Cimatti and looking at all the great moped they made that never came to the US.

Only you have that power.

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

They mostly used minarellis. But there's a few Moroni powered mopeds, and a bunch of Moroni powered mopeds, scooters, and trail bikes.

And they rebranded both engines as cimatti, too, with minor changes, mostly to the covers.

Re: 22T rear sprocket on a v1?

Well,Morini and Minarelli are two of the best engine brands out there.
