Mopeds w/ leg shields (pics please)

Emil Kniemel /

Ever since I saw this hard tail ciao with leg shields:

I've been re-invigorated to put leg shields on my bike (top tank/"magnum"). Which may seem kinda weird but I saw this, and I think it looks hype:

Those are Dart leg shields on the LTD Magnum. I think the Dart and Mini Maxi are the same:

Here are some other ones I've found:

Toptank:

Motobecane

Maxi:

Can you show me more pics of mopeds with leg shields? Perhaps other models than what i've already found? I think step thrus look more "normal" but top tanks also look ok to me. Custom joints are ok too, looking mainly for inspiration.

$10 used oil barrel. It was sweet. dry legs in the wet, and I also rode through this abandoned golf course near me a lot at that point, it was fun but lots of overgrown grass. no problem - WITH LEGSHIELDS!!

I miss that bike, i traded it for a kayak (and $$). The kayak is cool too tho

im curious. is the leg shield for your derbi magnum build? if so, puch cylinders are off set from centered on the frames. the dart shield cylinder hole is off set, and may not work if your top end is centered in the maggie frame. may have to go motobecane shields.

willD classic american ingenuity, recycle, reduce, reuse, repurpose. ive got 2 abandon golf courses, larktree GC, and mosscreek GC. within 3 miles from me. i ride the over grown cart paths all the time. i use my mini maxi for that exact reason. leg shields are pretty nice to have! abandon golf courses are pretty damn peaceful places with miles of curvy blacktop access, and a sizable state park, sycamore woods sandwiched between the courses. f'n moped heaven. i can get lost for hours, and never see a cager, or a person for that matter.

Yes. Darn. I guess i never noticed puchs were off-set.

Imma try it on my hobbit too since the hobbit engine is smaller and set further back. (edited)

Weird angle from the side stand slightly corrected.

Re: Mopeds w/ leg shields (pics please)

^ That's unique, how does it ride? Love the look of the bike no matter the forks.

Re: Mopeds w/ leg shields (pics please)

The damper kit and bronze bushings from moparts racing should feel good, I need to do few little things before the bike is ready to roll, maybe tonight.

I haven't liked the floating/bobbing feel of the springer forks and the full rigid are not comfortable or safe at higher speeds. Hoping these are a good feel.

Re: Mopeds w/ leg shields (pics please)

That puch executive! Omg where do I get one?!

There was a bunch of those executive kits for sale in England a couple years ago being sold as a lot. Not sure if they ever sold

Will, you’re thinking of Levi’s Blackout build:

This thing was scary fast and loud as fuck.
