Customs For shipping a Frame

Moped Friends,

I am trying to buy a moped, take it apart, and send it in a box to another country.

I asked Treats if they have experience with this and what they do.

Pending that response, I figured I'd ask here as well.

I'm getting some push-back from my supervision about dodging customs regulation for such a transaction. I know there must be a proper way to do it, but google is letting me down.

Military mail is technically USPS to USPS but I have to satisfy the German requirements if the box gets opened and checked.

Any chance someone on here knows this?

Thanks,

You should ask Blake from Dos Cycles. They import bikes from Europe all the time

Re: Customs For shipping a Frame

I got a frame shipped from the Netherlands thanks to Will Jannsen on here.

Re: Customs For shipping a Frame

Send the frame/wheels/motor separate.

Sending it as parts is better than sending it as a whole bike.

Re: Customs For shipping a Frame

As long as it’s not all complete in one box it’s just “parts”.

Re: Customs For shipping a Frame

Thanks for the advice. Any chance you have a reference for those statements? Like, what website you read it from.

I believe you. I just need to be able to show some documentation to prove it.

Re: Customs For shipping a Frame

Check and see if you can import it as a "kit" ship with no engine and wheels.

They will check the VIN against the stolen list so best to do yourself first. Easy enough to do online.
