Puch single wire ignition coil

I picked up a new single wire ignition coil that’s for a puch with a E50. I’ve used one before but I can’t remember how I installed it , I know the one wire on it is the hot wire but how is the switched wire (points) wired in? I might have to take my pinto apart to figure this one out. I will post a diagram when I get it.

Thanks for looking.

Re: Puch single wire ignition coil

Maybe the points wire is the hot wire ? ;)

Re: Puch single wire ignition coil

The points wire plugs into the coil. There are only 2 plugs on the standard Bosch unit right? One ground and one points (or hot as you call it)

On this it grounds through the mount so you only need the one wire from the points. Make sure you attach it securely to a good ground.

Yep, what Nick said. Get one of these in the picture so you can hook everything up to that single terminal. Move your condenser next to the coil while you’re at it

Re: Puch single wire ignition coil

So you all were right. For a puch the brown wire can be run to ground or as I did just tape it off and the blue wire will go to the one input on the coil.

Thank you all for the help.

Re: Puch single wire ignition coil

dont tape, ground it to the bike. never tape a ground.
