E50 Clutch Cover Woes

Hi All - Need some advice. I’m in the middle of a 1980 Maxi rebuild. When I install the clutch cover on the engine case, the cam which would be pulled by the clutch cable is stuck tight. I mean solid! I’ve put it together per pictures I’ve found online, but I don’t have other Puchs here for reference. I think the cam should move a little, but it doesn’t. Any advice appreciated.

Re: E50 Clutch Cover Woes

Never mind - got it fixed with some advice from Weiss

Re: E50 Clutch Cover Woes

Post your solution please, for folks that are not aware of how you have to position the arm for it to work properly.

Re: E50 Clutch Cover Woes

Essentially, the cam has to be more or less perpendicular to the cover, and in that position the actuating arm “flat side” has to be at about 45 degrees facing the clutch plate. Once I moved the cam into that position, everything bolted together easily and now the cam moves freely.

All of that is true. Glad you got some help with it.

The first time I had to replace on eof those arms it threw me for a while too.
