A poor mans fast moby.

Here is my moby. I got it for free and have about $100 into it.

Its starting to look as fast as it is.

I just finished my custom rear fender, seat and light setup. I wanted to show off the rear 2.75 irc tire.

It has been ported and had some good headwork. With my speed pipe on it it breaks 50mph with the gurtner carb! With the modded stock pipe it does 45 but accelerates much quicker and climbs hills way faster.

What do ya think?

Re: another pic.

the best part is he starts it with the heal of his shoe

by spinning the fly wheel

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

I love it! especially the light in the rear of the seat! How did you mod your stock pipe if I may ask? I did a mod of my own on one years ago and was just wondering if you did the same thing to yours. Let me know, e-mail me or reply in posting! awesome bike! (I would have kept the sidecovers though)

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

I removed the small pipe in the endcap and welded in a bigger straigt tube and took out the first baffle. Its much stronger for low end power but backs up and causes 4 stroking over 45. The other expansion pipe never four strokes and takes me over 50mph.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

are motobecanes really that hardcore?

i mean 50 almost stock holy shit

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

yeah seems pretty crazy. i know my 7 sucked

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

50? Have you ran it by a speed gun or GPS?

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

yea i was really wondering how you are getting this proof.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

It does 50 but its not exactly stock.

I have used chase vehicles and those radar stations that cops put up on the side of the road.

That and it was doing 50 at the Boston moped massacre keeping up with the other peds in the 50/50 club!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

I just repaired my speed pipe I think it looks sweet with the new rear end setup.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

This bike does 45-50 with no problem.

I've been behind him twice now checking speed and my jeep is within 2 mph.

Each time I was behind him he didn't know I was behind him so he wasn't trying to break neck speed either.

Paul I was behind you on East Broadway Sunday and I couldn't keep up with you in the tight twisties.

You completely lost me before Kimball Farm.

Holding 50mph in a lifted Jeep Cherokee with a screaming wife saying slow it downnot fun.

We'll need to get video because it's just unbelievable but it does do it.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

And that was with my "slow" pipe its way faster with the expansion pipe!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

it takes a wihile but that thing could rip.

if you can go 50 your faster that me, mine hits the wall at 45ish.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

yeah but you take off at first and make me look foolish!

Those Cambridge streets are not kind to top speed runners!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Just got my first Moby (a blue 50V just like that one) and I'm really impressed. Awesome job man.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Its not done yet though.

The frame gets pretty twisty aver 45.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

ill believe it when i see it. Red October!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Does the frame become twisty, or is it the contortionist act you do around the frame that makes it feel twisty?

We need to do a video! Any time your ready just let me know.

We'll have to do a blow by on one of those "Know Your Speed" Traps so every one will know it's not fake.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

those speed stations are hard to find sometimes though.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

You can call the police station and ask where they are placed for that day.

If they ask why just tell them you replace the Speedo and need to check it for accuracy.
