Re: A poor mans fast moby.

or maybe i can see if scotty glee will do it gutta catch him in a good mood though but he is usually happy to see mopeds go a lot faster than they are supposed to

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

The cop?

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

I like it a lot!

Now instead of parting out this 50Va I got last month I'm going to just copy yours and make it cool.

Nice work and thanks for the inspiration.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

No problem!

I can make you a custom seat like that with a light on it for you. I whip them out in like 20 minutes!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

dude thats really awesome.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

if you do 50 then i do 50. i havent seen you pass me, yet.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

He was doing at least 45 at the boston rally because that's about how fast I was running. He definitely has a crazy fast bike but it takes forever to get up to speed.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

ahh!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Hmmm interesting mod, what I did was remove end cap and cut the small tube off up by where it meets the baffles, there was a hash mark or maybe it was where the tube intersected the baffles? But that is where I cut it off...about an inch and a quarter if I remember right. This got me to a solid 40 mph with no loss of low end, this was on a bone stock moby 50v..stock gurtner. Thanks for sharing your mod. Best of luck! Awesome bike!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

looks very sweet, get yourself a flywheel cover for safty and some sidecovers and you will be stylin! It is a hot bike anyway! awesome work!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

would a fork brace help? and I have a question? I have a set of heaver shocks from a Le-moped, coil overs, will they fit my 50v? I know the angle is different on a 50v than from a le-moped...will they fit and will they help handleing?

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

- If you do 50 then i do 50. i havent seen you pass me, yet.-

Thats cause those dam stopsigns!

every time you took off I caught up to you, just couldnt get into powerband before I had to slam on the brakes!

Come up to the wide open streets of Haverhill I will show you!!

And that white puch hauls ass anyway probably gets really close to 50mph!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

A moby doesnt need any fork braces it needs new forks!

I took a pair off of a garelli rally sport they almost bolt right on If you want to know what I had to do I will explain it - just ask.

As far as the le moped shocks I am not sure I am still running my stock rears But I know as long as they are the same length you should be ok. The stock rears are really soft

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

next time we meet we'll find a good straight for you to wind up on. and i might be throwing a bigger pipe on and porting the exhaust a tad. we'll see tho

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

sounds like a challenge.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Im down!

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

newest pic.

Cleaned up the rear end a little more and still squeezing performance out of the pipe.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Sorry I had an issue with the end of the throttle cable taking a trip through my engine I am still trying to get my hans on some new rings then there will be a video

Patience.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Paul - rad, man. Did you follow the porting guide on the Wiki? This is something I've always wanted to do. Raise the exhaust, port the piston, and raise the intake. Then shave the head. If you did all that then I believe it'll do almost 50.

Dude - get a better pipe! You'll definitely have 50 all day with a Ninja or Doppler. Ah....but then again, it wouldn't be a 'poor man's' Moby.

I'm in the expensive super Moby club. There have been two significant straightaways where I've been around 60. Once at the Stinko-de-Mayo rally where only Tommy (who went 70! GPS confirmed!) and Elliot were in front. And they both have 60+ easy.

I'd love to come out to Haverill and see what you've done and talk Moby forks. I dropped some Honda forks on...but might upgrade. We'll see. You've probably seen it a million times because I post it so much, but this is my super Moby. Love it. Waaaay better than my 80 Metra puch rigid. Way better.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

This is the last evolution for this frame. Pure stock exept the CDI. 80 km/h (50mph)

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

wahhh wahhh bump wahhhhh

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

damn... i want a moby.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

What is the point of bumping this thread?

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

rad bike man, shaw said he got a stock moby to over 50 or even maybe 60 but it took forever to get there and alot of trial and error.

good work dude

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

It's baaaaaaack!

New motor, new port job.

Going for 60mph this time

Not sure if I can do it on the 10mm gurtner and stock intake though.

got some breaking in to do.

Stay tuned.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

Paul

A resurection!

What forks do you have on there?

Julian

Re: A poor mans fast moby.

i can confirm that this bike is ridiculously fast. paul also ported my previously stock 50v yesterday. it is allegedly more conservatively ported than the PMFM, but was holding its own, easily on the 45mph roads on the way back to boston. now i have to work on tuning my bike for a little more low end acceleration.

attn: boston

the ride to haverhill on rte. 28 has the best super-long, flat straightaways around.
