Are you aware of what wins resistance does above 55mph. Even with a full fairing it would take some power to be able to pull tall enough gears for 80 mph possible.

I don’t like being in a tuck, I sit up straight, my bikes have high bars and man you can feel a lot of wind at 55+mph

You can hear the wind when hitting that 55 mph speed on this crap video on that same bike, when the wind hit I almost dropped phone and wiped out that’s why the video ended so soon, it’s bit faster and safer with both hands on handlebars haha,

I'm not going to sit here and do the math, but I'm pretty sure the power requirement basically doubles to go from 60 to 80.

I commute in daily traffic, and having owned and commuted on both kitted SS wet clutch bikes and DV, will also take a 45mph DV bike everyday, all day, over a "furiously-pedaling off the line" Puch that can theoretically go 55mph in a straight line, or needs a 24mm carburetor to get decent pull off the line with a 15-20 mile range on a tank.

Why Over-rev or overheat a bike because you don’t know how to tune it!

Why not just tune it right and run it for a decade or two with just a 15 mm carb!

Could you imagine driving for 4 or five hours, even all all day or all all year with a bike that is not exploding like the bike in my video! That runs perfect right now !

I can’t believe these people that post here know nothing about anything reliable transportation yet could keep up with traffic!

Everybody has the fastest Puch, just ask 'em.

Couple of things. First power required is the cube of the speed so to go from 60 to 80 would require that the power increases 2.37 times. Second, there is no replacement for displacement. Change nothing but the the bore (assuming the rest of the system, carb, pipe, etc is up to the task) from 50cc to 80cc and you should see 1.6 times the power. So when you ask who has the fastest Puch, you might want to qualify the displacement.

When I built my land speed racing E50, I replaced the forks with Honda XR80 forks and custom made the swing arm. The stock frame would be dangerous at these speeds. Brakes don't matter at a LSR event but I would want to seriously beef up the stock brakes if you are going fast on the road. For street use, I agree with some of the comments about building a reliable 45mph machine.

45 on a puch maxi. removed the restrictor and ported the intake. biggest front sprocket. 50cc.

Thank you so much for this thread as Im gonna learn a lot from it. I Have a Puch Maxi with a Polini and a Cali sidebleed, 15:15. I never GPS'd yet but it starts pulling real hard when i get to 25-30. I still puss out and let off the throttle early.
