New Years in Amsterdam is so fun!! The whole city is trashed the next day.

Paris New Years was intense though.. everyone gathers in the Champ de Mars (the park behind the Eiffel Tower). They play soccer and drink and chill and it’s rad. Until midnight... then its a chaotic free for all! Champagne and shit flying through he air it was nuts.

Us dumb americans do new years all wrong. Looks like a blast. What's the fuel of choice on those milk cannons?

carbide and some water. When carbide gets in contact with water it creates an explosive gas.

Which is why it was outlawed here in the US years ago. It used to be used for miner's lamps and steam locomotive lamps.

That doesn't sound very "land of the free"-like. Over here shooting carbide is encouraged by (local) government because it's much safer than fireworks.Edited 1 time(s). Last edit at 12/29/18 06:44PM by dutchpuch.

Creates acetylene gas. Just like the old coal miners' and even raccoon hunters' carbide lanterns.

Yeah, but we have tannerite, shotguns and assault rifles.

And if you really want a boom, get a good neutral flame on the ol acetylene torch, snuff it out, and fill a black garbage bag with the mixed gas & oxy. Seal with a twist tie, attach 10 feet or so of toilet paper, light the end and let your balloon fly. None of your neighbors will have Windows left.
