What kind act have you done lately?

After lurking awhile I have realized that the people on here are probably decent but come on here and act like dicks to each other online. . for fun I think. The problem is it seems to spiral out of control and the OT becomes negative and toxic.

So to try and make this place better and show the world everyone here is not a complete dick I ask everyone the question of what kind act have you done lately.

I'll start about a month ago I aired up some random person's car that had a flat in a parking lot., your turn.

I let a guy weld his junk wagon trailer back together at 3am this morning in the middle of the street. Welding arc flashing grinding sparks, led head band lamps shining every which way while he figured out how to do it. My wife came out wondering wtf, dogs going crazy barking pissing people off. It was a good time. The guy whom I just met, happened to have a nice tubular shorty chrome exhaust headers that fit her year mustang car. So she shut up and went back inside nicely then we carried on for another 20 minutes fixing broken welds.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

Some neighbor kid came over with a Coleman bike that he thought needed a new engine. He even brought over the new engine in box. We opened up the drive side and found the chain tensioner had come loose. Also it was out of gas. Fixed those two items and a couple other small things and he was able to ride it around the neighborhood again. Felt good.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

There was a time when being kind wasn’t such a big deal.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

I try to do a good thing, but the snark is just too thick with some of the burnouts.

This is a fucking joke.

Typical hypocritical dickweed.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

I cut off a guy in traffic and when he got mad I stabbed a knife through the hood of his car and took off.

^This, "please".

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

I locked up my rear tire and did a 25' skid on cobble stone side street and accidentally ran over the foot of this super pissed off construction worker. He ran out in the street to stop me for coming around the corner a little hot. There was some Buick commercial they were filming around the corner and the cops blocking traffic watched it all go down. , This gorilla-man was super mad for some reason, it was his fault he got run over , lunging out to try to clothesline me off my bike like stone cold or some shit.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

You can be a hypocritical dickweed and still do good things. In fact many great people who have done lots to make the world a better place are dickweeds once their life is examined.

Yesterday I helped a guy find some info he needed to repair his hvac. Not a great feat, but some of that stuff is obscure and hard to find especially on the older setups.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

"You can be a hypocritical dickweed and still do good things."

That's not an admirable trait, Roosty.

People routinely justify being racist, misogynistic, abusive assholes because they close their eyes and raise their arms to a sky god on sundays.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

Not an admirable trait for sure. And the sky god worship and being an asshole and sticking a few bucks in the plate sucks and does not cleanse someone.

It's a long process to not be a complete dick. I mean even buying chinese manufactured slave labor made goods is a dick move. Under scrutiny we would all fall short of being a good person.

But you shouldn't wait until you reach good person status to try and do good things and posting it would maybe encourage others and it would be a good thing.

IDK, it has to be better than posting about the news or politics and getting everyone pissed with no good at all coming from it.

And I like the cover art for the last two songs... very George Romero esque, but I don't know if I will actually listen to the music. I'm not really a musical person.

That said, as far as kind acts in the real world are concerned, I'm of the opinion that tooting one's horn about how kind one is negates the virtue of those kind acts.

I agree, there are things ive done that only god, the person, and i know about.

Not exactly the same point but... I always remember this story about CS Lewis.

One day, Lewis and a friend were walking down the road and came upon a street person who reached out to them for help. While his friend kept walking, Lewis stopped and proceeded to empty his wallet. When they resumed their journey, his friend asked, "What are you doing giving him your money like that? Don't you know he's just going to go squander all that on ale?" Lewis paused and replied, "That's all I was going to do with it."

By this logic the kind deeds of holy figures shouldn't have been written down to inspire others. or is holy tooting different somehow?

I did have a friend in town one day and we went downtown to throw away 20 bucks each killing time to play some slots at the casino downtown. I mean it's just paying for entertainment, no expectations of winning - like a movie costs almost 20 bucks, try some casino shit, whatever.

I wound up giving my 20 to a dude outside cuz I'd already committed to wasting it and I felt better someone who'd be excited to have it, have it, rather than just give it to the casino.

Other kind acts tho for real? I got wasted Tuesday and pissed on my neighbor's vegetable garden.

You had already written that $20 off as wasted, but it made that persons night. You were able to see something beyond yourself, thats something to happy about!

On a positive note, the urine probably helped their vegetables grow. Now, i remember years back my buddy pissed on this dudes car at a steak & shake... find something positive there for me please.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

I once heard a story about a guy with an old car that wasn't used much. The guy went to start it and noticed that there was some trash or something in the car and figured out that someone had been living in the car. So he waited until the next evening and ......Placed some canned food and drinks in there.

I guess I should never of heard that because all legacies of kindness involving oneself should be never spoken or written of.(edited)

It depends, did you hear about it on facebook?

I grabbed the end of a steel thing, part of a snow plow. It weighed 7 pounds. Not much but I Help the guy move it a few inches, I felt pretty good about it. haaaaaa

There is nothing wrong if someone sees you doing a kind act and tells about it. But the person doing the act should do so without any expectation of something in return. Its like all these companies that donate money to a cause... we all know they do it just to get their names out there and promote their images... they didnt give because they wanted to help they basically just paid for marketing.

Bottom line, if your going to help someone than just do it without expectation of gain. If someone involved or witnessing it going around spreading the tale than just be humble about it.

The owner of Chic Fil A closes all his stores down on Sunday to honor god & give his employees time off to be with their family. I find this to be an honorable act, as you know Chic Fil A would do great business on a Sunday but he forgoes profits for the sake of his employees & his convictions.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

One time I was in a drive-thru and the girl ahead of me apparently “lost” her wrapper out of her window, so I got of my car and put it back in her car for her, it felt pretty good.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

“lost” her wrapper

What kind of wrapper we talking about here? You might want to get yourself tested...

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

KFC, they had partially filled her order and she was waiting on the rest.(edited)

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

"But the person doing the act should do so without any expectation of something in return"

I'm not even trying to troll, I just don't see how this is applicable here. What would someone have to gain if they post of a kind deed here and inspire others to do the same?

This isn't instagram, no followers, just a bunch of old crusty/hipster mopedders.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

There ARE a lot of good people willing to help, Roosty, especially when their specialty brand comes up in the question.

K-evil(A zed) usually tries to start a fight...…….along with Rock-thrower Bas and Jayson.

Other than those, MOST contribute to moped repairs very kindly.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

Thanks Don for alerting me to the troublesome ones.

Re: What kind act have you done lately?

Yeah, if you ignore those trolls, you are much better off. K-evil actually gets mad when you ignore him...…......LOL!
