That Johnson two strokes are a waste of gas, as you can read. On outboards 4 stroke is the way to go.

Meh. They are nice but cost alot, are very heavy, not so simple to work on. I prefer a nice old fast twin over a four stroke anyday. I like four strokes on larger boats that are gonna stay on the boat but if you got to remove it then the two stroke is the best. Sucks trying to muscle those big ass heavy guys.

I picked up another 7.5hp so I jusr swapped the nicer (but not perfect) propeller onto mine and I shaved down all three blades of the chewed up propeller to match a template of the smallest blade equally until I get around to building them back up. I would still be interested in a nice Gamefisher 7.5 prompt as a spare if one ever turns up.
Now what I need is a Gamefisher (Tanaka) 3.0 replacement carb because this one was destroyed in shipping

Yeah i get that, but i really enjoy the lack of noise on a 4 stroke, also fuel efficiency. Today we used only 6 or 7 litres on a 5 hour trip. With a 25hp two stroke it would be about triple that. In the summer we often just go around the canals in the old city centre (5mph speed limit) and with a 4 stroke you don't even hear the engine at that speed.
So for me i'll never get a 2 stroke outboard again, but if you want to be able to carry it and you don't mind the noise, shure buy a 2 stroke outboard.

Small 2 stroke singles are great for dingys, easy to carry. They arent that loud compared to a 4t single. Gas consumption about the same. For a larger engine, a 2t is a bitch to go slow with in a no wake zone.

I had a 150 hp 6 cylinder 2t yamaha. Try feeding that hungry beast. The large four strokes are very quiet. I used to work for a marine construction outfit and we has several boats with hondas. We had a 225 honda on one of them and I would constantly turn the key and grind the starter because you could barely hear it running.

Found a $20 Amazon bicycle motor chinese generic carb that is almost identical to my broken stock tanaka carb. Other than a kill button and fuel bowl the rest of this one is super clean but I dunno why somebody peeled off all the vinyls and pride off the serial number badge.

So I found this super vintage wizzard outboard stand at the dump today. Probably from the 40's 50's. Need to find a diehard wizzard collector to sell it to.

Here we go again.
These are both running 3hp 50cc cylinders with 25mm unrestricted exhaust headers and the intakes are 16mm ID.
I don't plan to do any porting but the carbs are only 14mm venturi's so there's easily enough room to go to 15 maybe even 16 without touching the top of the atomizer.
They are already jetted rich so I think I can get another 0.2/0.3hp just opening the carb.

Why not try and fit an expansion chamber on one of those bad boys. Be a fun project.
