Re: ‘Rona

...he's lying.

Re: ‘Rona

Maybe, maybe not, I can say I've had a good yr too, have a great new job, healthy etc, but to act like thousands have not IS super cold. I do my part and use mask, and stay away from groups etc, but I always kind of did that. The lack of concern for those who lost jobs and lives is very depressing to hear, could have been you? Or don't you ever think about that?

Re: ‘Rona

^^^Right on cue!

Re: ‘Rona

Yep, I’m lying. Keep telling yourself that.

Stephen, it was us. All the same shit happened to us. Wife lost her job. Family members got sick. Schools got shut down. Businesses collapsed all around us. But, while we couldn’t control the pandemic, we could control our response to it. My wife got a great new job, with awesome pay, retirement & benefits. We all got well. Schools opened back up. We got to spend more family time together. I really do feel bad to those who have lost family members to this, but that wasn’t really what we’re talking about. It’s the bigger picture. It’s how you deal with things. If you don’t like the view, look out a different window. You may be in the same shitty place, but your outlook on the situation determines your happiness. You are in control of your own life. You want better, do better, work better, think better, live better. Nobody will ever give you better. Make it happen. I chose to not let this defeat me. It won’t.

In all reality, 2020 has been the best year I’ve had in a long, long time. I refuse to feel guilty or bad for that. And it sure doesn’t mean I’m heartless to those who haven’t.

Re: ‘Rona

I'm not saying wallow in misery, i'm saying have a tiny sliver of a heart and try to recognize how your actions impact others. maybe a bit of empathy for others. It's extremely selfish and arrogant to be not just ignoring, but advocating for others to dismiss the suffering of others, and the importance of working together to sort out a global shit situation.

this year sucks, worse for many, and absolutely failed by our weak pathetic incapable leadership. But there's this insanely vain idea that this is exaggerated to make trump look bad, or that it's overreacting to try to save hundreds of thousands of lives by just exercising some basic caution, or that taking a serious thing seriously is "weak" or somehow "being manipulated", and this all comes from a very specific subset of society just exposing over and over again the depths of their selfishness.

like the middle schooler jab fits in a lotta ways - especially how that attitude's a lot like putting other people down to make yourself feel better. you don't feel better, you just make it hard for other people - it's a very similar seeming mentality, rather than accept a challenge and help make things better for everyone, instead just belittling those who try.

I think you summed it up in the u do u comment tho, buncha the rest of us out here like howabout we do we and exist and contribute to a society, a community

Re: ‘Rona

Yeah, you’re looking out the wrong window. We don’t see the same thing.

Re: ‘Rona

that's a good point

Re: ‘Rona

Will, it kinda goes along with a previous discussion of ours, where I mentioned “...what you feed, grows” or something along those lines. So much about life depends on our chosen perspective. If I’m gonna make it through this shitty, shitty world, I’ve got to feed the right monsters, listen to the right voices, and look out the right window. Otherwise this place ain’t worth living in. I’m just like anybody else, doing what I gotta do to get through it all. And I GOTTA look at things thru a positive light, or I’ll never make it. It’s a daily struggle. I know not everybody’s world looks like mine, but I don’t live in everybody else’s world. I get that pain and suffering are very real, and we will all likely have to reconcile with that someday. It legitimately hurts my heart to see people suffer. Any people. But life has given me a lot of callouses, and I’ve put up a lot of walls to protect myself. There are a few causes out there that I hold very dear. I help who I’m able. I’m not a heartless asshole- I have a heart. This year could have gone down very differently for me & mine. I do believe that the way we responded to the challenges as they came, and our attitudes, made the difference. We haven’t always dealt well with things. We’re growing.

You love union but vote Drumph?!?

Re: ‘Rona

Duh! Many of us that way. Funny how that works, huh?

Re: ‘Rona

Yeah it is weird. Because the rich wanting to get richer (Republicans) are on a warpath against collective bargaining. Its like socialism to them. Pure Evil.

I experienced the death of a union first hand. wages stagnated, pensions eliminated, 401k match reduced to nil, benefits $690/mo for shit health insurance. I could go on. What was once a career employment was reduced to a job which looked about as good as pizza delivery. Actually, pizza guys get free food.

The real sacrifice, and price, required to fix the American economy is gonna require PAINFUL financial responsibility from the Fed down. Nobody wants to hear that and no politician can run with it. Perot almost did. People were a lot different back then.

And that brings me back around to what Im always saying on here. We don’t have a bad leader problem, we have a bad people problem. Think, a demagogue trying to win the favor of educated, critical thinking, responsible citizens would have to woo them with... Fucking GOOD ideas.

When you’re luring a herd of dumbasses around, you can twinkle whatever shiny thing you want and if it gets their attention, you’re good to go.
