Getting back to my aircooled VW roots with this all original ‘67 Bug. Picking her up next weekend. Wish me luck!
(edited)
Very nice, good luck. I like the color too, it looks beige on my ipad.
Good luck. I miss my old vw all the time. So simple.
It’s funny, mopeds got me interested in aircooled vdubs back in the early ‘80’s, then I went back to mopeds in the late ‘90’s and now back to vdubs in 2021. (edited)
Sweet find, you’ll enjoy the shit outta it I’m sure! Maybe I should obtain a baja bug, always wanted one...
The wife and I are excited to take it to classic car and VW shows, hanging out in our lawn chairs with other like minded folks should be a lot of fun.
Dude...that's so awesome, '67 is widely considered one of the most collectable yrs, as it was the first yr of 12v. I think they still had the 1500cc engine though, single port? Not 100% on that...been a long time for me, was into them in the '80's when they were still around and affordable. Very happy for you, enjoy and post more pics once you get it! :) Like mopeds, the prices on these are only going up, as they are true antiques now.
Stephen you are correct regarding the engine size. Aside from it being the first 12v bug, it was also the last year of the old style bumpers and small tail lights. I had an original ‘67 back in the early ‘90’s, but it was cosmetically challenged. I drove that bug from RVA to Ft Sill OK without issue. I got that ‘67 bug in exchange for preparing someone’s tax returns (I’m a retired CPA). I used to barter my tax services for all kinds of goodies back then.

Thanks for refreshing my memory, I would love another air-cooled, but the only ones left in MN are either too rusted to be safe, or full on collectors, and I can't justify the cost for a car I can't really use or store. If I lived in a dry state I would daily one again, my favorite was my '71 super convert....it was a mobile oil slick but so much fun!
My “new” ‘67 is gonna be stored in my climate controlled garage here in VA. If I was still in NJ, I don’t think I would have bought it because of the adverse weather conditions there.
I love beetles, I've been obsessed with them for a while. Really want a 70's super beetle, but I've always wanted to get a vanity plate with it that say's "Lovebug"
The “lovebug” license plate is probably the most requested vanity plate for Beetles. I guarantee that plate is already being used in every state in this country.

I wouldn't doubt it.
Hrbelb
So ugly when they changed to big bumpers and taillight/blinker shite. Old small lights ftw!!!!!!
'74? You have the old school blinkers and bumpers.....but most of it interchanges, love seeing these cars. :)

You could try "Luvbug" may not be in use as much as it once was...
Baja bug's are pretty sweet, I've seen one with a Porsche swap in person before. Just sick.
Mopeds are next,Larry...................you'll be back collecting again. LOL!
My uncle was a habitual drunkard he taught me how to drive his superbug when I was 13. I was his designated driver I'll drink you drive...about 3 years it was a blast it was an ungodly orange and I think my toes never thawed.
There are ways to get heat out of an air cooled bug, the factory ways rusted out in the first few yrs, the alternate ways were brought about by clever re-engineering and JC Whitney, ask me how I know, and if you were really serious by Ebbersparker...:)
He tried a furnace and it burned up his microbus.

Not sure why anyone would purchase a super beetle. The early ones had the flat windows but man the strut front ends never did it for me. Flat window beam front end or where it is at

I was a vw water cooled guy in the 90s. Now I'm an air cooler. Hope to see you at some shows in the future. Used to do the Litchfield show in Connecticut

I 100% 2nd this!
I bought a super because I didn’t understand the diff. Struts suck and have all sorts of alignment issues that cannot be fixed.
The torsion beam is indestructible. Which is why buggies and stuff use em.
I’ve never done the Litchfield VW show. I’ve been to Bugout in manassas, VA, englishtown, NJ show, Woodstock VW reunion and Waterfest in Montclair, Nj.

Not sure if they do the Litchfield(Harwington) show any more, the guy that ran it retired a few years ago.
I went to every “bug in” at Litchfield/Harwington from 89’ to just a few years ago with my dad, we used to bring our 75’ super then my MK2’s until the show stopped.
Pancakes at the Harwington vfd and the bug in was a Father’s Day tradition for many years, now it’s just pancakes :(
I bet he is happy and proud that it left such an impression on you that you cared enough to share with others. (edited)
