"1957" motobecane survior

Hi!

Puttin feelers out for my old moby

Its been sitting and i simply haven't found the interest to dive in on it

So here we are

From what i read on myrons its a 1957

I can double check to be sure

Original motor,tool pouch,seat,grips,wheels etc

A true survivor

Was said to have run a few years back

It had a new piston put in and some carb work (verified the piston and cyl condition)

I was going to be swapping a av7 into it but quite honestly its too unique to mod in my opinion

I do have the fenders and both side covers

$700 cash or maybe trade for something a bit more common for my girl to ride with me (puch, minarelli etc)

Located in the west michigan area

No shipping at this time

Thanks for lookin

Comments and questions welcome of course.

(First two pics are with av7 mocked up)

(Will come with original motor and componets installed)

I havent gotten any pms lol

Maybe my thing is messed up.

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

Is the rear rim bent? Looks like it is in the 2nd pic.(edited)

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

Nope no bend buddy. Check your goggles lol.

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

I see it too, drive sprocket side, not real bad though, would not keep me from buying it.

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

Ahh yes i checked and it is a little.

My bad mane!

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

Nice AV42... would have to check the original carb date stamp or the engines serial coin to confirm the date - still a excellent bike, none the less. Someone buy this bike, you can hit me up anytime with tech needs or suggestions on how to fix anything on it.

If I was not in CanadaLand but in the US, I would be negotiating a deal on it right now !!!

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

Appriciate the kind words

If someone is interested i can get

The seriel and such off.

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

God, that bike is a thing of beauty...wish you were in MN! I'd have it right now. It is WAY too unique and pretty to mod. GLWS, but you should keep it. :)

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

Much use out of a 20mph bike (im fat lol )

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

I just sold my 50v, pics in photo gallery, it needed work I don't have the energy to do, but I miss her

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

The AV44 (I said AV42 before but the forks make it a AV44 - old folks make mistakes) was rated as a 40km/h (25mph) bike HOWEVER the upper motor mounts do fit later AV7 motors (or AV10) but you would want to fabricate a perch for the lower counter spring or use a linear one. The gearing will also need changing out for 50km/h rating gear set and longer chain, all plug and play though.

Having a complete later AV7 would be key as these earlier motors do not have the main bearing journals and it would be harsh on the main bearings running it hard all day long.

You could (if you wanted to) mod the upper mount to swivel on the attaching axle and have a variated AV7 (or AV10)… just keep in mind it is a bone rattler (hardtail) so extended high speeds is doable but not always comfortable, if you are an all day andinto the night rider.

Re: "1957" motobecane survior

Yeah i already mocked up an av7. The stock motor mounts upper do not fit actually

But some simple brackatry will make it mount. And then of course the bottom spring mount needs a lil fab work.

I just dont even feel comfortable welding on this old gem. Lol.
