Yeah too many details are missing but I guess for a beginner it's somewhere to start.

Most times gas oil mix is best used to try to start your engine instead of starting spray or WD-40 too.

Starting spray will remove any oil from the cylinder walls rings and bearings causing damage.

Also little was said about not having a airbox and filter or correct airbox/filter could result in a not running or poorly running not tuned bike.

I don't like his timing specifications or way of checking timing either

Most of those are specific to the model and what the manual says not just a eyeball guess.
