1982 Garelli no spark

On my 1982 garelli sport I put a new keyway in it because it sheared. So once I put it on and put the cover think back on it didn’t have spark and I did before that so what do I need to fix.

Have you checked timing ?

And , for the second time :

Quick lesson :

The small metal piece that sheared is called a key .

The groove the it fits into is called a key-way .Edited 2 time(s). Last edit at 02/06/19 07:43PM by pdcomm.

Re: 1982 Garelli no spark

Also can a bad crank seal make a moped hard to start

Absolutely can

Re: 1982 Garelli no spark

Okay

Re: 1982 Garelli no spark

Owen, the way a two stroke works, while the piston is traveling up, it creates a vacuum in the case and thereby causes it to draw air/fuel mix into the case thru the carburetor and intake. On the Piston's downstroke, it forces that air/fuel charge into the cylinder, where it is compressed and burned in the next upstroke. If your crank seal is bad, your engine will draw air past the seal into the case as well as drawing air/fuel mix thru your carburetor. This will make the air/fuel mix way too lean, causing a poor start/run condition, will cause your engine to overheat and may actually seize your engine.
