Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

I already took the flywheel off anyways and it was hard to get off.

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

Yes I need to pull off the main gear and the clutch to get the case in half I think

Owen, don't use that for tightening. Avoid mistakes by doing your tightening by hand.

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

Don’t use what for tightening?

You can make do without all those tools except the 2 or 3 jaw puller (small). You SHOULD get the proper flywheel puller for that brand magneto.

Owen, don't use that impact wrench for tightening. Avoid mistakes by doing your tightening by hand.

You don't need a 2/3-jaw to get the clutch apart. Start with that

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

The 2/3 jaw is not for the clutch, it is for the main gear.

I know.... that is what I just said. Before you need to pull the main gear you still have the whole clutch assy to pull, so begin there.

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

Ohh, okay

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

I got the engine apart tonight and it when I opened it the internal pedal wasn’t hooked up and a piece of something is shattered.

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

Also what is the best website to get the cheapest gaskets, I know that mopedjunkyard cost $42 for a gasket set, is there a cheaper website, and on the clutch where the rubber pieces go on the metal, are there supposed to be some missing?

The clutch coupling is what shattered. The return spring still looks to be intact on the shaft, but I'd still replace that too. I should have the internal chain, coupling and return spring. PM me if interested.

There should be six rubber bushings on that clutch star shaped piece. Your's is correct.

Early NOIs use a different case gasket than later ones.

Owen, listen to MopedLar and Dr George. MopedLar is good to buy from. Very fair, and very helpful, and fast shipping to boot. Buy with confidence.

^yup, that's the late model NOI gasket set. You can tell by the large holes in the case gasket to accommodate the rubber motor mount bushings.

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

I ordered the gasket set and a crank seal for the heck of it, and I need the left brake handle (domino) and mopedjunkyard seems to be the only place for that and is $15, is there a cheaper website?

Pic?

Do you need both the brake handle and spring or just the brake handle? I can include one with your other parts for an additional $5.00.

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

I need the whole brake handle with the spring

Parts shipped. Good luck with the restoration!

sometimes it's just a little ratchet mechanism, if you're real unlucky.

Yeah those really suck....

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

I kind of want to get a new exhaust for one of my garellis because this exhaust is kind of ugly, I have seen some shiny ones but are those the same otherwise or would I need to reject the carb?

Re: Just bought and the pedal start won’t work

I don’t understand what the clutch coupling does and how it goes on there
