Ciao decompression valve: Fix it or plug it?

Todd Rouleau /

Upgrading to a 64cc kit on a Ciao and the decompression valve doesn't seal properly. Do I order a new decompression valve and somehow make the new one work on the cylinder head or do I tap and plug the decompression hole? Is the effort worth it? Will plugging the decompression hole negatively affect the performance? (Besides, I'm not sure how I'd make them seal properly.)

Baron Von Hamilton /

Get some lapping compound.

Put it on the valve.

Put the valve in the head.

Spin it with a flathead bit in a drill.

You should see a great improvement in the sealing surface.

Maybe Google 'lapping valves' .

Thanks, I've never heard of "lapping valves". I'll check it out.
