Adjusted timing; now no spark - 79 motobecane

Alden Stover /

Ok... so I've been messing with this thing forever to get it started. Replaced ignition coil, condenser, spark boot, went over the wiring and such, resulting in actually achieving spark, though not starting. I finally decided to adjust the timing and points. I followed along with instructions i found on here, and lo and behold, now i have lost spark completely. What could i have possibly done to fuck it up so thoroughly?

Make sure there’s no dirt between the points contacts. All that’s needed is a little shmutz between the contacts and you’ll lose spark.

It was definitely the points. I cleaned them and the spark has returned. Still not starting but at least I'm not going backwards
