Tomos transmission fluid

Finn Thor Heyer /

Hey everybody,

i have been using normal atf oil for a long time now. It has always worked fine for me but i wanted to try another type of oil. Atf oil is kinda hard to find in my area and on top of that it is really expensive. What other kind of oil can i use in my tomos transmission. i was thinking about 5w30, would that work?

Re: Tomos transmission fluid

There's a wiki for this if you search.

I use ⅔ high mileage 10w30 and ⅓ marvel mystery oil. I also overfill mine so I shift a little later

Mine shifts kinda late already. Should i roughen up my shift pads and keep using atf or would 5w30 work fine too?

It depends what engine you have if you have the old-style a3 you could pretty much use any oil but if you have a newer a35 or a55 engine with cork lined clutches the detergent type motor oil could degrade the cork lining on the clutches pretty quick so I would stick to use whatever fluid the owners manual states to use
