Polini Water Pump pulley band replacement

suhhhh doods

so who else is tired of their polini water pump pulley breaking/cracking every few weeks, or after a couple hard laps???

well treatland and others alike sell the pulley band/belt for $5 - $7 and change AND shipping for 1 freaking O ring (belt)

was reading on this forum here:

https://www.cycleforums.com/forums/112-performance-maintenance/299713-grc-gp-polini-water-pump-belt-issue.html

and they have some great alternatives. i took their advice and went to my local Ace hardware and got a large O ring for a water filtration system. it's slightly thicker and imo that's fine/better.

took it on a 5 min ride,, was fine. will report back with any issues but this 2 pack was $5 at my local ace, rather then $10 (after shipping) +/- for 1 !!

win.

Re: Polini Water Pump pulley band replacement

I was using vacuum belts on my bike, I never had on break. It wore 2 grooves on the inside of the belt from the pulley being narrower, but it worked great.

Re: Polini Water Pump pulley band replacement

Ha . It's that zip tie holding the cable .

Green on a bike = Bad JuJu . ;)

But , it's the little things that make the big things run , 'right' or at all . LOL

JK . Good you're being happy . ;)

Re: Polini Water Pump pulley band replacement

Everyone should know green and yellow zip ties are the strongest. Black and white zip ties are only temporary and should never be used to hold anything structural.

Actually , the clear or 'smoked' zip ties are the ultimate strongest , as they have not been compromised by the addition of dies . ;)

Re: Polini Water Pump pulley band replacement

So the zip tie thing is kind of a joke, but the colored electrical tape is real. The colors actually can mean something. Like the blue stuff is heat rated. Works really well for dealing with those leaky rivets of your baffle.

I did not know that^ . Learn something new , every day .

Thanks . :)

Re: Polini Water Pump pulley band replacement

The right angle metal fitting on the water ...what exactly is it and where at Ace or home Depot etc did u get it.im in the process of mounting the top tank on my watercooler and want to minimize the water hose curves.

Re: Polini Water Pump pulley band replacement

It was something like this I just went to the vacuum section of ace and looked for something that would work.

the head and cyl fittings are pretty big. the wp and radiator are much smaller. this 90* adapter/reducer is super helpful

Re: Polini Water Pump pulley band replacement

Thanks Chris. Ordered the last one. I imagine I need two.

Ace hardware has those style fittings, I’d imagine you could find them at most hardware stores.
