Is this supposed to happen?

Drake Abrahamsson /

Just put on a tecno circuit pipe & after my first ride with it (riding to a place to do plug chops because I live on a huge hill) my clutch lever broke & it stopped running. This was after about 4 miles of semi hilly riding trying to not to go WOT but probably still doing it. I just think the spark plug boot wire fell out of the ignition coil. Anyways, the clear coat seems to have melted off the pipe. Is this an indication of me running too hot? Or is this expected. 70cc treats kit, hi hi head, bing 14mm, 72 jet, 220 atomizer, 24 slide. Timing is 15* BTDC and 17 thousandths of an inch gap. Also using a NGK B6HS plug

Supposed to? IDK. But I can tell you that the same thing happened to mine.

Re: Is this supposed to happen?

Cheap coating.

Needs to be ceramic coated.

Re: Is this supposed to happen?

Nah just let it burn off and hit it with some bbq paint every year.

That first photo looked like a dress shoe under an e50. I can't unsee it.

Yep. that's what I would do

Re: Is this supposed to happen?

The clear coat on raw pipes is just there to keep it from rusting on the shelf.

Hey again, this time in another one of my threads! First off, thanks for all the help. The statement “your pipes cherry in the top is super cold” confuses me. Are you saying the redness is from too hot or too cold? Sorry

...ah, Catholic boys and their dress shoe fantasies. Even the curve of a two stroke pipe is enough after that much repression.

"cherry in the top...". indeed(edited)

What I meant to say is your cylinder and top end is cold wow the pipe and the exhaust are turning cherry red from the Heat

Re: Is this supposed to happen?

I use stove paint easy to brush on. Looks better.
