Re: Honda express why is my carb leaking through hole

Cause that's the drain bolt location, you don't have the drain bolt so it will literally just always drain until you get a drain bolt lol

Re: Honda express why is my carb leaking through hole

Is this the plug screw?

Yes . But , it looks like the bevel at the tip has worn a groove .

Chuck the screw head in a drill , spin it while holding sand paper against the bevel or do the same against a grind stone . Careful to not change the angle of the bevel .

You just want to remove the groove and 'flatten' the surface .

Then pay attention that the o ring seals the screw in the hole . If it doesn't gas will exit along side the screw when loosened .

Remember to simply snug the screw in place . No ham-fistedness required . ;)

Re: Honda express why is my carb leaking through hole

pardon my ignorance I have a couple questions

-why do you think that the screw got the groove in the first place?

- if I keep the screw the way it is whats wrong?

- if I installed it and it stops the leaking with out sanding the groove flat is that ok?

- was looking at the replacement screws and it seems the o-ring is not the same do you know why see link:

Maybe multiple times of screwing in and out ?

It might leak .

No leaks is optimal . So , yes , that would be OK .

It might have something to do with your o ring being about 40 years old ,

been in and out of place who knows how many times and the one on the

replacement screw is brand new , never touched , but for mounting it on the screw .

:)

Re: Honda express why is my carb leaking through hole

I would add that the taper on tip shuts off the drain which comes out of nipple or hose on bottom of float bowl. The oring simply keeps it from leaking out around threads on screw when opened and draining out through nipple/hose. If closed and seated at taper the oring does nothing.(edited)
