Peugeot 103 reeds

I have been searching threads and a lot of the posts are old, and treats has a crazy selection.

But what are good replacement reeds for a stock engine with a sha ... new intake and original pipe?

Re: Peugeot 103 reeds

theyre the same size as tomos a35 reeds so that gives you lots of options. the stock ones are really restrictive little circles, but treats does sell the stock replacements. I wouldnt though, it;s a great opportunity to grab some performance with upgraded reeds!

Personally I'd go with the Boyesin dual stage, they're probably the most popular and rock, but you'll need to get a reedblock to go with them. Stock a35 works, but to get use your stock 103 you'd have to do some dremel work to the reedblock.

if you want to really rip, you could stick the 4 petal setups on, but that's if you're kitted and looking for a big carb fast bike.

And easiest would be to slap in one of the prefab options, the VL1 reedblocks on dos and treats have kinda longer reeds and you sometimes have to cut the bottom lip off the reed. Athena ones in my experience are the best

So recap, in order from simplest and cheapest to fastest

1) Stock replacement. Only $10. they work but no performance.

2)Bolt on athena reeds. probably best bolt-on option, much better performance vs stock. $26 Other bolt-on include the polini reeds or V1L (which require sometimes minor modifications) or just buy/sell snag someones old stock tomos a35 reeds.

3) Boyesin reeds. These rule and are a real popular upgrade over stock tomos, but you need the more open tomos-style reed block. My favorite, but you'll have o find a better block to bolt em to (maybe buy/sell?) or dremel out your stock 103 reedblock.

4) Rip dicks 4 petal. these are realy for the kits that use the same intake pattern but on a ported stock setup you could probably make use of it. maybe worth it if you plan on upgrading to a big carb and big kit later?
