kill switch hookup

im hooking up my kill switch and i bought a three prong toggle switch. i know on goes to power but what does off and the ground on the switch go to? can i ground the ground on the switch and send the off to ground? is that how it works?

Not very water resistant type switch. Just get a push button starter switch. When you push it,the bike engine dies if the other side is grounded..

i should have mentioned im installing a second one somewhere on my bike as a anti theft deterrent too

You have that mounted in a bad place. Your leg will be rubbing on that cover constantly,looks like to me.

thats not my bike, it was an example of where abouts i was going to mount it

Is it on-on or on-off-on?

What you want is the ground and spark to be connected when the switch is thrown

A multimeter on continuity setting would tell you what you need to do

Oh shit it's probably a on off with a ground. Just connect the on-spark and the off-ground leave the ground tab on the switch alone

this makes the most sense but i needed confirmation other than myself. thank you so much

i was overthinking this a lot, im glad its solved now i can put a hidden kill switch on my bike

Good you have the simple grounding switch figured out .

Think about using a simple magnetic switch for your anti theft switch .

You could mount it anywhere that's convenient , in plain sight or hidden .

Maybe a flush mount type and simple plate magnet .

As long as the magnet is in place , the bike runs .

Remove the magnet and the bike is dead .

And , there's no obvious switch .
