Hi,
I just bought a Maxi for my wife. It comes with really thin tires (17x2"). The wheels are 17x1.2". Both are stock for this (european) model.
I was wondering that can I install 1 size wider 17x2.25" tires on those wheels and will they fit the Maxi without rubbing?
According to size list I found the A measurement on 17x1.2" wheel is 1.33" and C is 1.89".

You could probably go as large as 2.5 on your tyres. But some styles end up a little larger. But the sava via the link above is a good profile tyre for sure.
2.25s work fine for me. i wish i could get 2.5s to fit the rear of my 1977 maxi. Note that 2.25 will not clear the front fender of 1977 or earlier maxis without a bit of work or replacing with a post 1977 front fender. You could run 2.25 in back and 2.0 up front.
Mine is from late 80´s.
I should receive it today but from pics it seems there is not a lot of space between the front tire and the fender support.

do what u can to adjust front fender bracket rolled edge and alignment. Necessity is the mother of all creation.
I have widened many a maxi fender for this reason. It's just mopeds.

A good large set of pliers, I like the offset channel locks. Just make bends to bulge it out at the top and bend back to taper it back to meet the mounts. I still have the tire rub a bit when I back up. But only when it backs up weirdly enough. But I'm running some 2.5in knobbies when end up closer to 3in. Desert riding fun!

Take a softball and use that roll open the fender’s till it’s enough. Gets you even rolling side to side. Don’t use channel locks, you’ll marr and bend those fenders all fucked up

Puchshop says these tires (2.50x17 Michelin City pro) will fit original swingarm but doesn't specify Maxi or something else, anybody actually tried them in Maxi?

I have Michelin City Pro's on my 77 maxi 2.25x17 and they barely barely fit. You could always get a new swing arm. After 77 they came out with the wider rim, so maybe they changed the size of the swing arm. Not sure

I like your idea. Guess I need to buy a softball.
But my fenders made it out ok. You can just use a bit of rubber inner tube between the plier teeth to make sure it doesn't do any damage at all.

Ok, thanks. Mine is late 80's euromodel with the narrow 1.2" rim. What wider rim was used in Maxis? (edited)
