I have a 1978 Honda Express that I am trying to get going. I bought it from someone who converted it to kick-start and had it working for a while and then stopped working. My plan is to remove the kick-start converted motor/trans and swap in a good used replacement.
I took it to a reputable motorcycle repair friend of mine and he gave me a spare NC50 motor to use that he thought just had a broken spring. So I took the spare motor he gave me and bought a new transmission case from someone here that had a good spring. However, after opening the spare motor my friend gave me, the spring condition looks identical to the new transmission case that I was sold to swap in. So either the new case I bought also has a broken spring, or the spare motor I was given has a good spring.
Can you guys please take a look at the two transmission cases below and the inside of the spare motor transmission to see if everything looks good? i.e. nothing is out of place or visibly damaged. Both transmission cases have tension when applying force through the wind mechanism so I think the spring on the spare motor is good as well so something else must have been stopping it from starting.
Thank you for the help!
