Thrysister needs replaced

Richard Brawner Jr /

I just bought a 1980 jawa x30 it runs but I was told it needs a new thryister, is that a easy fix or no

Re: Thrysister needs replaced

If it's running it probably doesn't need a new thyristor.

What would make it sound like its miss firing or shut shut sputtering while cruising at high speeds?

This is a classic marginal thyrister problem. Just replace it. I've been there.

Re: Thrysister needs replaced

It's a super easy fix. Buy a replacement from treatland and plug it in.

Thanks

Re: Thrysister needs replaced

Weird, in the 8 or so Jawas I've had I've only ever had them fail totally; no intermittent failure. Good to know.

Re: Thrysister needs replaced

Mine had the sputter at speed too. Put a timing light on it and rev. The light would cut out. Try it.

Rummage sales, flea markets, second hand stores. (edited)
