Throttle cable to carb connection

Ethan Silvestri /

I recently replaced the throttle and cable in my 1977 maxi. The new table is a different length though and does not have enough room for the 90° bend the piece that connects onto my carburetor. This is the connection currently. It drives OK however I don’t like the looks of it and it feels unsafe. Does anyone have any recommendations?

Re: Throttle cable to carb connection

You need a new throttle cable adjuster, treats has a large selection of small ones like pictured. You will just need to find the thread pitch and size.

Re: Throttle cable to carb connection

I have modified sha tops with the cable holders from brake levers. Not sure of it would work the same on a bing tho. But totally grab some actual ones from treats via the above link. Dont let your cable float as seen in your pic. It may end up binding and holding your carb wide open. Would be catastrophic if you were trying to turn or stop when that happen.
