i think mid 40's

15 x 40

boss pipe

15 bing 82 jet needle all the way lean

heavy ass magnum

case matched

noisy as fuck.

if i geared out to 17 x 40 i could get to 50

but i blast in the city, and rarely do i need to go faster than 45.

mopeds are fun.

50 mph

dmp crank

case matched

15sha & intake 65 jet

bullet pipe

stock clutch

stock 15 x 45 gearing

i seriously went as cheap as possible and the results were amazing. im doing this again for sure. maybe next time try a phbg and a better pipe

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

42 mph top speed

Setup:

70cc Kstar

14mm bing

Case matched

Stock gearing

Stock clutch

mlm rev-run pipe

70 main jet

Also using stock airbox(sucks ass)

Please help me reach 50!! What else should I install? I was thinking about high flow and then upjetting but really how much gains can you see from that? Still learning about CDI's and clutch tuning. Tips, suggestions much appreciated!

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

Oh and btw, its a ZA50 ooooooops!

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

dear rhan, change your gearing to hit 50.

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

it really seams that the difference between your 40 bikes and 50 bikes is that the 50s bikes have a bigger carb and taller gearing. so thats really all that separates them.. its not rocket science..

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

From this thread it seems the opposite. The guys claiming 50 have smaller carbs

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

***Kim Jong illest*** /

dmp is same as k star right?

cuz mine was technically a dmp kit, but if theyre the same....

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

If you want to go over 50 you need at least a 16mm carb. I recommend a 19. The kit really wakes up after that.

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

thank you all for the posts! I'm thinking about a carb upgrade next month. probably a 19mm phbg. Is it still possible to go faster without changing the gearings? I don't want to lose any bottom end because the ped can climb.

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

are they really the same tho? can I use the kstar port map as a template to port a DMP kit?

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

rhan, gear taller and tune the clutch to hit a little higher

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

yeah but if u cant make a kstar do 50 with a bigger carb, (20-24) then obviously your tuning it wrong. maybe the kstar is just begging to be ported.

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

alright im gonna mess around with gearings. I just went and checked and it says 16/40.

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

way more than your thinking

Not Tate, if you're still following this what intake do you have on your bing in the picture?

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

dude of course, put a 21t sprocket up front.

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

17-Bing Puch MS intake...

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

Countryob here to talk piston port k-star, it all dependent on the rider, weather, setup, tranny, mechanic everything comes into account when trying to Brake speed barriers. If ur just going for speed then just high gear the hell out of it, that being said on my k-star with a 19mm phbg with 16-40 gearing, boss pipe, treats 6.5 clutch, stock ignition at 17mm, I could pull low 50s in a full tuck. I could probably reach 60 but if move like a snail off the line and the temp would run hot at wop

Good to hear from you Rafter

Long time no post!

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

70cc unported kstar, matching 15mm carb/intake, tuned 2-shoe clutches, 18/42 gearing, boss pipe gets me to 50 mph

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

Correction: 70cc Kstar on an e50 with raised exhaust port 3mm, 14 bing, 72 jet, boss pipe, 16/42 sprockets, needle on leanest setting, metal mesh high flow air filter with tuned 2-shoe clutches. I was going 45-46mph and it was still pulling/speed increasing at between 1/2 to 3/4 throttle (flat road, no hills or tailwind) and I had to let off at that point in order to protect the stock crank. I have learned on here that something as simple as raising/widening the exhaust port on this kit really wakes it up. Before the exhaust was raised I could only manage 41mph or so on the same setup (edited)

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

what an odd one to bump.

I'm surprised there's not more suggestions for a CDI with a curve. There's a lot to be gained on a little single speed by pushing RPM instead of just gearing. port high, clutch stall high, good CDI and let the revs climb

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

What is your base gasket thickness, head gasket thickness and squish on the head?

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

Base gasket thickness 1mm to clear the exhaust port window at bottom dead center. Using one head gasket and stock Puch high torque head. Decent all-around pull and can hit 46-47mph easily and still keep pulling at 3/4 throttle. It probably can do 50 but I'm not going to push it as I'm running the stock crank

Re: Anyone gone fast on A 70cc k-star with E-50 ?

Nice, whats your whole set up?

70cc DMP e50, 16/42 gearing, 15mm bing 78 jet needle clip on richest setting (bottom notch), boss pipe (the estoril pipe I also have laying around would hit a wall about 8500 rpms but the boss will rev out plus it clears the pedals)
