Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Ok, I see now that the rebar is pinned to the bar that can be pulled by the cable. Look like it would work but looks awfully poor leverage.

Must be a bitch to do that by hand.

Still wondering about the lever.

Maybe attached to the original decomp lever?

Or an extra brake lever or throttle?

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Ah, puch clutch lever.

Lol, nevermind.

I stupid

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

yup a puch left hand side assembly

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Hey Jbot... you going to the races in 3 weeks?

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

No, I don't race on tracks.

I prefer 1000mi races. More my style.

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Brian, so with no variation the clutch lever has a bunch of slack in it, correct, because there needs to be that extra cable length for when the engine variates? Then, if you grab the clutch lever it pulls in that slack/extra cable length, thereby pulling the engine back forward, effectively downshifting like it would if you stomped on a launch lever?

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Nick,

I don't know how Jesse solved the issue of slack in the cable at full variation. Since the clutch lever pinches the cable there is no potential of the cable becoming disconnected at the lever location. maybe at the engine mount location the cable would just freely move when the lever is not engaged

Fire it up! Let's see some Jbotic hobbit Tung-en-grüV locking action!

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Nothing to really see.

At least while riding.

I retuned the variation a bit tho, and am going much much faster now.

Adjusted the contra spring to be very loose,

And now I control variation mostly with the variator brake.

Start off locked (zero bouncy bouncy)

get to max rpms,

slight release of lever

then lock again.

Repeat.

The engine won't jump at all if you release the brake lightly.

I just love not having to constantly keep my foot on that launch lever.

When I need to downshift, just a slight tap on the foot lever puts the rpm where I want it.

Only concern is tight cornering when the variation is locked, cuz you launch hard out of the corner and can skip the back wheel. LolZ

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

im gonna build a moby and do this.

Noticed that the steel lever arm off the launch lever pedal for the variator brake didn't grab for shit,

So I changed it to aluminum, added holes for extra grip and siped the pads.

Now it works great with this mechanical caliper from scootertrash, , almost as easy as my hydraulic caliper on the Moby.

Brandon Weiss (Detective brandon to you) /

Can you make a video showing it in action?

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Nope, it has to be used when riding....don't have a helmet cam

You must have duct tape . LOL

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

That's not worthy of an lol.

That was stupid as fuck

Never would anyone laugh at that.

What is wrong with you?

I think you're fucked in the head

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

J-Bot can make anything but a mount for his camera.

Belated little girl giggle

When I don't care about something, yes. I cannot make it.

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

not to derail but what's up with your pipe mount?

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

What do you mean?

It's a swinging engine so I have a mid pipe ball joint and added support at the header.

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Took this little bubbie out for a ride yesterday, and it's just as thrilling as it was before.

In tight twists and turns I just keep the variator brake locked, and the power delivery is instantaneous.

No goat at startup even with a super weak spring.

No one has tried this yet?

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

nah i just learned to be happy with my mopeds being slow, much easier.

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Yeah, that's fine too.

Not

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Has anyone done this yet on a French bike?

If not you're really missing out.

Thumbs uP!

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Hard to see the brake clamping down in the vid.

Once it's under load it performs very different. But that weak ass spring is perfect if you can lock the variation position.

I'm still using a stock crank and haven't had any breakage due to locking and releasing the swing.

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

Brandon Weiss (Detective brandon to you) /

How about some riding footage, side by side with a similar setup without the lever? Its hard to visualize just how much these things affect performance

Re: Hand brake launch lever kinda

How about not.

If you can't see the advantage I don't know what to tell you.

Just picture a lock for your launch lever. There's a ton of ways to use this
