🇮🇹💦 Of the Loin /

yeah i guess i started having a conversation with a different person

even though I use flat view

but i can see how that was confusing

maybe I was just talking to myself but yeah I wasnt talking about your thing with the resistor plug

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Sure.

But you *could* run it from the bike's power if you wanted to. :)

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

You guys are probably just picking up the government 5g coronavirus signal, once you get the chip in your brain from the vaccine, it will go away.

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

That explains it. Things sure have been weird for sure since I had COVID in March (I was sick for ten weeks).

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Was it just fucking awful?

Did you have fever dreams?

Shortness of breath?

I have asthma and I’m pretty used to breathing difficulties occasionally. For folks who aren’t used to it it must be fucking terrifying

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

> Was it just fucking awful?

The exhaustion was fucking awful; even taking out the trash would leave me winded and I'd have to take a break when walking back into the house.

> Did you have fever dreams?

Not really, my fever was quite mild. I did have headaches every day which were a real drag.

> Shortness of breath?

Definitely. Like a bad asthma day every day.

I too have asthma and am pretty used to breathing difficulties. My albuterol emergency inhaler was my best friend when I had COVID.

You're welcome; thank you for sharing your awesome moped projects!

I don't have a Trail Tech ,dead or alive , to take the sensor from , if i bought the H.F. meat temp gauge what sensor could I buy that would work ?

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

In theory you could take the small glass sensor in the tip out and encapsulate it in epoxy onto a ring terminal that could be then be bolted to a head stud or the plug.

Otherwise you just have to buy shit on eBay and experiment

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Oh look I’m bored and searched for you

Tons of under $10 cheap ass options for 14mm sensors

I actually did an eBay search too , everything that came up was around $30 . Thanks for finding cheaper options for me .

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Yeah the thermocouples by themselves are dirt cheap but having the sparkplug eyelet is huge

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Not trying to self promote here but I am working on a project in gen topic using one those dirt cheap ebay thermocouples. Maybe y’all will find the info useful or maybe can help me? I don’t 100% know what I’m doing. Hoping to have a dead simple, dirt cheap head temp solution out of this.

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Another temp gauge dead.

Don’t know if it was trail tech but it had 4 screws on the back

HAHAHA like they do fucking anything, the housing is epoxied together and has a soldered in battery. But you cannot get the housing apart without trashing it. Fuck I hate these people who make these

But I have a few more harbor freight meat thermometers ready to go! Wired up and was rolling within 20min

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

FYI, do NOT buy that hardline temp sensor from DennisKirk. It only goes to 302 degrees. I inquired with the company (hardline, not DennisKirk) about the misleading packaging (says 482 on the package and Hardline’s website) and they told me it’s not misleading. Just a mistake. Mistakes happen. I’ll let you guys decide. I posted reviews there and on Amazon about this product. I’m sure it would work if you never plan to go above 302 degrees, so there’s that.

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Just buy a cheapie from eBay dawg

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

I got a Trail Tech. I know I’ll be searching for this thread in 4-5 years to figure out how to replace the battery, but I’m done with cheap ass China shit. Would rather pay a little more for something that actually works the way it’s supposed to the first time.

Durrrrrr

Bro everything is from China now.

Most stuff is pretty good.

If they’d only stop human rights abuses but these days we in the US don’t have a moral leg to stand on with that argument

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Johnny Braaapp /

Just photoshop the date on the invoice of the last Trail Tech you bought to within 30 days of current. Email Trail Tech saying it didn't work right out of the box, get a free replacement. Derp

Could it be that those folks read this forum ?

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Jbot ..seeing this post is now on page 3 can you list the harbor freight gauge that works with a trail.tech 14mm sensor so I can order a few today? I've got a bunch of failed temp gauges but good lower parts.

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

You can’t read the first post on the first page?

Do you mean to troll or does it just come naturally to you?

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

JBOT dropping new facts in yer asssss about meat thermometer jazz

Add an rc network across the temp probes sensors and you can use a non resistor plug! It kills the rf. Called a snubber

I tried a 220ohm resistor and a .47uf non polarized capacitor.

For dummies,

1. take those two parts listed above and take one side of the resistor, attach to probe wire #1

2. Twist other end of resistor with one side of capacitor

3. Twist other side of capacitor with probe wire #2.

That’s it.

Use a B8 with none of that resistor spark reducing bullshit.

Re: Trail tech temp death and rebirth

Haha nvrmind. WRONG.

Sneaky resistor plug snuck into the non resistor box. Well now I’m gonna figure it out
