Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

the speed fight on hobbit, very fast and very fun.. I ran this one on my hobbit for mopedgp and it was for sure one of the fastest bikes, when it wasnt destroying clutches that is haha. I have a modified stuffy with a brass bushing and it hasn’t let me down yet! https://www.treatland.tv/peugeot-speedfight-airsal-70cc-47-6mm-cylinder-kit-p/airsal-peugeot-010243476.htm

Cool. Thanks for info. I was wondering where people were sourcing their kits from.

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

what makes the speedfight a better choice than a dio kit?

studs more or less line up with minimal modification and stroke is the same. Basically all ya gotta do is make a base spacer.

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

Man..... I really want to do this. I

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

Holler at us Eric we have a couple ripper Speedfight kits here from Athena. Might have a polini here too.

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

Will do! Thanks Blake!

Anyone running a speedfight on a flat reed Derbi? How much of a pita is it?

a few people, it's pretty easy.

The Spanish guys mostly run GPR kits because of availability and they come in 50mm varieties

I always kinda wondered this too. I think part of it is that it's been done and know to work, and the stroke and spacing similarities. But the last post brings up another good point? Why not the GPR stuff? or horizontal minarelli is real close too. they're all pretty available powerhouse LC kits with the coolant lines all contained in the cylinder and head (no case cooling), with 30-40mm strokes. I never fucked with it personally, but seems like there's options out there underexplored

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

I wondered about the horizontal minarellis. Had no idea about GPRs.

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

It's my understanding from my meh Spanish that GPR kits work super well on flat reeds if you can machine the stud spacing. Ports and squish clearance line up almost perfectly, dependent on the aftermarket kit you use obviously.

hell I recently found out stock gpr pistons are a perfect replacement for stock start v pistons but with a dykes ring- Darrel smeared his stock flat reed top end and we replaced it with the leftovers from my garage. (edited)

Any idea how far the studs need moved?

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

no idea. I wouldn't imagine it really matters whether it's 4mm or 10mm, process is the same; plug the old holes drill then and tap new ones.

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

Derbi Metrakit base gasket traced onto a flatreed. I twisted the gasket a pinch though.

Thanks for that pic. Doesn't look that bad. I mainly wanted to know if I had to add material

Re: Opinions on DOS Hobbit Crank (12 pin)??

You'll blow through the cases trying to match the transfers so you'll need material added under the stator and clutch.

Any certain year or engine of gpr or senda I should go with? Or are they all pretty much the same?

Those kits above or derbi kits....

I was thinking of doing a regular derbi kit before, but did not want to send a new crank out to get a different one pressed in. This option is a game changer and saves about $100 if you want a 12pin option. Unless you press cranks yourself.

The common differentiator is typically pre or post 06. Only big change is post is cooled through the cases so probably don't use one of those for converting a honda or flatreed.

I actually borked my own question, i was wondering about the JOG/Minarelli H kit, since i had seen that tried and the studs were real close there too. Its just that the minarelli H stuff is rediculous cheap.

Is the speedfight the same as the Morini/Buxy?

Q: has anyone tried running this 12mm crank with the stage 6 conversion bearing to run a 10mm pin piston?

Necrob bump for jbots question. Basically im gonna do a crank upgrade on hobbit, have a derbi FR kit laying around, but might want to use a hobbit kit later on.

This would allow me to use either?
