Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Alex Hedrick /

I got new cylinder studs, exhaust studs clutch cover bolts.

The new 6.4 jammer.

MLM 1mm base spacer and 2 .5mm base gaskets. Just a bunch of shit.

I'm going to be tearing down the e50 k-star 70cc build so I can do some port timing, deck the cylinder .031 (.8mm) open boost ports on the piston and knotch the skirt 1 or 2mm on intake side. Maybe open up the intake a little and for sure widen the exhaust 1mm each side.

Stay tuned. I'll be posting lots of pictures along the way. And maybe some videos.

The 70cc k-star after about maybe 15 miles on it haha

No porting done. Just pulled it off the case.

Didnt plan on going to crazy with the exhaust.. just widened it a smudge, and cleaning it up, might polish might not..

Decked the cylinder .5mm and wet sanded both the head and cylinder for a nice aluminum to aluminum seal!

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Alex Hedrick /

Fired right up, sounds great, idles great, throttle response is good. No pinging from the k-star! Fuck yes. It's a bit to late and cold as fuck. Will rip tomorrow when I get home from work around 12:00! Fuck yes I'm so stoked.

Still need to put the jammer clutch on. But I figured one more blast with the stock one so I can tell the difference I've made. (If any) haha

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Your wrist pin circlip is in the improper orientation. That's a good way to blow stuff up.

You want the open side facing straight back. With it facing exhaust or intake, even partially, the forces at play will squeeze it and then it falls out and then you have a bad day

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Alex Hedrick /

I knew someone was going to say something about it haha. I did rotate it to correct position before slapping it all back together. I was just stoked as I was putting it together and snapped a photo real fast haha

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Nice work, it's a lot more work to set them up like this but always worth it. It could just be the photos but it looks like your cylinder has some scratches, did you gap the ring when you built it the first time? Super important on these cheaper cylinders.

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Alex Hedrick /

It's really just tedious work, but it's alright cause mopeds and I like it haha

And yeah i noticed that when I took it all apart to do all this, the ring is gapped to .008 or .009, something like that. And I've been running Lucas 30:1 mix for break in, I'm not sure what has caused the vertical "scratches" tho... I can tell the ring just started to seat properly also. So maybe I just need to break it in some more and hopefully they'll go away. Otherwise I dont notice any

Affects on performance.

I'm so bummed its snowing!! I wanna go for a ride :(

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Didnt mean to be rude and not say thank you!! Haha so thank you!

..I'm currently at work..

Gee , I must be the luckiest cobbler on the planet . I've never in 60 years of both 2 and 4 stroke motors had a circlip get squeezed and fall out . Note that I have never oriented a circlip other than to have the open away from any dig channel .

Circlips are spring steel . As such , even when a piston 'reshapes' from heat , the clip will simply ride in a properly deep groove , if it has not been severely misshapen and has been installed correctly .

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Alex Hedrick /

Hey! Me either!! Must be luck, must be that I put them in the same way everytime I do a new build.. never reuse them.. huhh.. I'm not sure but I'll still knock on wood just incase haha

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Yeah I had it happen once before I started doing that. Probably 9-10k rpm. If you're building bikes that never rev over 5k probably not a big deal

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

If it helps you to insure a proper fit , then I'm all for it .

I just can't see that it's a big deal , other than that^ .

And , yes , I've 'built' high RPM motors as well as a lot of lower RPM stockers .

Like I said , I must be the luckiest cobbler ... ;)

Jagnum just sounds like a Jaguar and a Magnum, would rather call it Jawnum.

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Alex Hedrick /

Haha! Jawnum it is.

This is a cold start and still warming up.. but so far so good.

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Sounds good!

Lol. You should nickname the bike "the dentist"

because your Jaw-Num

Or, "braces", because it's Mag-Jaw

Alright.. I think someone need to decide on a solid name for it... I cant even decide with all these rock solid name Ideas you guys got..

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Brandon Weiss (Detective brandon to you) /

wait...we've been going about this all wrong. We have to either mix the brand name, or the model name, not both. '

In that regard, by brand i'd call it

"Juch"

or

"Jawuch"

or

"Puwa"

By model, i'd call it

"The Magnum Supreme"

If you still wanted to mix n match brand/model, i'd go with

"The Jawagnum"

Woah.. you just broke it down the some sort of science! Alright.. it has to be between those names!

What do you guys think??

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Just call it the '2 Smoker' . ;)

I know it's not original , but , it's fitting .

I normally do.. but I figured this would be fun, and kills the time between testing and more tuning/photos lol

Re: Re-working the jawa/e50 build.

Ok. I feel dumb. Maybe not? I dont know.

I HAD a 75 main jet in there.

Swapped it for a 90 like I thought I had in it...

Still. Doing. Weird. Shit. At. Wide. Open. Wtf..

Any ideas?
