They're required when removing a variator, but I can't remember if you need them for installation or not. Memory says you can just slide the snap ring down the crankshaft and it'll snap into place but it's been a few years since i've worked on one.

Oh and actually I think I have a stock variator in my garage I could sell you if you're interested.

put a decent k&n style filter

how is your low end take off?

clean out that pipe if you keep the same as the pic, definitely the rubber mounts as they said earlier.
