Any issues with breaking welds? I know you need the guts off a stock hobbit pulley and weld it in but it also needs some affixing mid way so im gonna tig some pins in. Wdut?

Btw nice work looks factory whats the big washer from ?roll the edge on a flat one?

The washer just happen to fit. The other one, I cut the clutch off sawing around the spring with an metabo grinder. The plug fits tight, notch out for the pins in there and it should slip in all the way til it hits the hobbit nut. Then welding the hobbit nut to the pulley will hold it on.

Re: Hobbit motomatic pulley

I'm glad I got a couple of the "re-inforced" motomatics while they were available. You can use any of the gy6 50 springs, Malossi's are best. I swapped out the pulley face for a NCY performance one that has better helix angles. In combination with the TJT & Treats plate, variation is flawless.

buy this from treats, find a person with a lathe to make the insert to replace the bearings inside and to fit the hobbit input shaft taper, weld it it in.

The plug fits great right behind the plug threads. I hacked it out then lathered it til the pulley remover threads in there peeled off like paper, around the nut. Lots of good Japanese steel to shave down into the press fit end.

I welded a bushing on to make the od of the hobbit taper insert consistent. Does that make sense?

Nice welding, the shaft and plug have a tapered interference that sticks it together when the end nut is tightened. Cut a keyway notch ?

Prolly should cut that out and put a hobbit plug in it, unless u have a different good ideaR.

Loving it. Better than stock but not mind blowing.

Re: Hobbit motomatic pulley

Nice work.

Re: Hobbit motomatic pulley

That stock spring on that pulley is way too strong. Gotta get a horizontal minarelli 2 stroke contra for it.
