Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Not much of an update but excited to get this going.

Since I had polini cases and this has the malossi ones I'll have to remake some lunch lever/water pump brackets.

Plan on using a doppler pipe with the Stsge6 so I'll make an adapting exhaust flange for the time being. 28mm ID vs doppler 26mm, might lose some power but this is for testing purposes after all. That all should be relatively easy.

Next challenge is getting the PWK carb to fit. Subframe barely fits the phbg so I think it'll have to swing out the side for clearance. Anyone ever do something like that before?

hmmmm yo could just send me that old motor, I just built a similar bottom end, but I used Teknix cases, I ported the intake and think I fucked myself, I dont like the sound its making upon start up....

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Yea you’re gonna have to send it out the right side to clear, or get a vouge frame.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Exhaust adaptor V1 for doppler pipe. Had to flip the ball joint springs for the mock up but looks okay so far. The rear exhaust mount will have to move a bit. Variation swing is set too far back because of it.

I forgot how much different these malossi cases were compared to polini but I guess they werent made for 103s so makes sense.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

I like the exhaust conversion plate

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Damn! Exciting to see the engine mounted on the bike. Keep it up dude!!!

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Yesterday noticed engine didn't swing properly. Took a bit of material off the frame and bam! Batmobile curves.

Started my lunch (lever) as well.

Got belt tension pretty close to where I want it. Might drill another hole for fun. Debating making a symmetrical bracket on the otherside for added structure and maybe tucking a coil in there..

Water pump up next

Gotta love French bikes, a lot moar brain power needed compared to my E50.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Pretty cool man.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

this is the only thing keeping me from ending it all right now.

JUST KIDDING i'm high on life and would never commit suicide but seriously, this is that good.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

Haha, well that's good! Not an expert but learning a lot as I go.

Got water pump and spring/belt tension squared away. I have a 20lb gas strut laying around somewhere I could add to this if the polini spring is not stiff enough...

Need to go to oreilys and look at the various coolant hoses on the wall to find what I need to complete coolant system.

Next up is new intake sweeping out to the driver's right side. Shouldn't be as hard as I originally thought. I was worried it would be too long and mess with tuning but I think it'll work.

Since every plate of steel on this bike is currently a rectangle I'm changing my name to blocky Mcblock face.

Coolant mock up, seems good. Has enough flex for variating.

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

26mm intake, gonna hack up a MLM intake for the PWK carb.

Gotta order parts.

In the meantime torque, threadlock, button up everything else.

Dirty30 Dillon /

This beautiful motor, and you slap squared-off adapter plates and over-sweated copper tubing on it.

Truly a moped.

A masterpiece for sure

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

squared off plates are the best!

How well does the gas strut work for ya? Always wanted to run one, I got a 40lb one laying around I've never used...

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

The aluminum plate is a moped engineering marvel.

eBay too

I love them on Moby's, I typically use 50lbs struts on motors with a stock style pulley and a clutch'd er3/er2, for really really ripping set ups I use a 75lbs shock, the bike had so much torque it would skip the belt a bit with the 50lbs shock

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

i’m down to 20lbs (15’s too light to grip the cheeks). since snapping a crank, i’ve been really sensitive to bending on the crank.

i also control the variation the entire time with the launch lever which makes the bike crazy faster in the turns and so much more fun to ride. much much more fun :-)

Yea I order a 50lb strut but I thought it was way to strong , I think 20-30lb is more realistic especially on a daily

50lbs on a Moby is fine, sounds like not so much on a 103

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

50# might be fine for a Stock moby or Peugeot variator, they have well over 40 grams of weight in there. I have found that a shock and spring together is the best. A spring tends to jump back to fast and a shock is too linear. It won’t keep the rpms up if the right lbs or will shift slow with too much lbs, using both gives you the increase in tension as you variate and the smoothness of the gas shock. Naz has a sweet set up on his where he fit a spring around his shock. I just have a 20# shock and the stock spring.

This makes sense as the 103 stock spring is pretty good, a Moby stock spring on the other hand just kinda sucks, I would assume that a combination of spring and shock would be the ideal set up

Re: Stage6 MK1 Peugeot Engine

It runs. Doing break in with a 21mm phbg seems to respond to throttle and running a little rich.

Future plans include a pwk carb and crustom intake and malossi swing arm to beefy this sucker up.

Pretty excited to finally get this going!
