Re: Epic Vespa Thread

Yeah, I did refill the transmission. I'm going to have to take it all apart and see what happened.

Re: Epic Vespa Thread

It turns out the clutch nut rubbed against the face of the transmission and worked its way free. The clutch exploded when I pulled the bell off. Also the threads on the clutch seem stripped. Transmission seems salvageable, but I think the clutch is toast.

Did something similar. It milled the tranny case to unuseable by mere.

mortals.

I'm so bummed I've been working on my hobbits. Vespas are neglected. I could make a nice video of a circumnavigation of davis but might have incriminating footage of use of greenbelt paths.

Re: Epic Vespa Thread

What 10 pin con rod bearings are people using? Just curious...

Re: Epic Vespa Thread

I've not tried that. Are you converting a stock conrod to needle?

Re: Epic Vespa Thread

It is a stock needle 10 pin. Just curious on what size people are using.

I'm fairly certain I'm running either the Polini or doppler 10x14x13 in two of my bikes, but hinestly it's been so long. Didn't get a shop hour in the week, but I'll yank the OI motor I have off the shelf and mic out the specs.

I'm not bored with it yet.

Re: Epic Vespa Thread

I love the 30 pack rack.

I’ve been playing with my grande. I remade the fixed variator cheek that spaced it out to allow the belt to sit on the shaft. It really helped with off the line power. I tried the jbot belt dressing to help with my floppy belt. It helped I think there may still be a high spot. At wot it feels like it’s starving for fuel. But the next jet up it 4 strokes throughout the throttle range. I need to pull the carb apart to see if that filter at the fuel inlet is clogged, the tank was pretty crusty when I got the frame. But the bike it ripping even though I can’t get a wot run.

Thanks Eric. Im thinking there is probably still a low spot, I pulled it though until I didn’t have anymore resistance. I need to move in one of the blocks and dress it some more. It’s kinda hard to measure since the belts beat up from flapping against the subframe.
