Airsal a35 query.

Noticed that at tdc, the transfer ports inside the cylinder are covered slightly (aprrox. 3mm)by the piston. Is this normal? Should I shave the piston so that they are fully open?

the black mark is where the cut off point is.

Cylinder and piston are airsal 44mm a35.

Cheers all. (edited)

You could match them, or not.

But I would be worried about the scorching on the back side of the piston crown, indicating that your temps are fairly hot

Re: Airsal a35 query.

gas and oil are going to flow in through those transfer ports regardless if u want to put the extra work to open it 3mm then do it. I leave it as is to keep the integrity and strength of the piston/ kit. I would look at the exhaust port that's where power can be gained easily.

Re: Airsal a35 query.

Cool. I'll leave the piston alone then. I'm a bit scared about raising / lowering any thing intake or exhaust wise at the moment but I'm getting a dremel delivered tomorrow so I'm going to widen everything by just a couple of mm and see what happens. Very excited though :)

Seal leak statorside?

Re: Airsal a35 query.

Oh yeah that was an old piston from and older incarnation of the bike that was was horrid (me not having a clue what I was doing) that i had knocking around.

Got it all together yesterday.

Left the piston alone..

Widened intake ports by about 2mm either side

Widened exhaust by about 3mm either side then raised by about 1mm

Chamfered everything

Case matched

Polished the exhaust pot the best I could

Fuck me... it's so much better than before.

Loads more torque / general power throughout.

Bike is tomos a35

Airsal 44mm

mlm 15 intake

Sha 15 clone

68 jet

1st Gear Jammer clutch with light springs

Estoril pipe

Wish I'd done this ages ago now.

Re: Airsal a35 query.

Get a bigger carb intake a reeds now! Another good jump in performance
