50/50 rules

We should set down some rules in writing for 50/50 bikes.

Because why? Because why not, that's why. Got something better to do? And because I've got a V1 Lazer I don't know what to do with.

I figure the only real rule is gotta use the 50cc cylinder it came with, you can modify it, but no kits.

Anything else goes.

Waddayouse guys think?

Any pipe allowed, welding/adding material to cylinder allowed?

Re: 50/50 rules

Tou cant bore out the 50cc stock cyl, only port it. If you bore it out for a larger piston it will be more than 50cc.

There's a big difference between 50/50, and 50 mph on a stock cylinder.

Re: 50/50 rules

Yeah, I mean, gotta be 50cc no matter what.

I plan on modding the stock cylinder and head on my V1 Lazer. Build a pipe, intake, put a big carb on, etc.

I had a fast stock V1 before that'd hit upper 40s, but it sucked for low end.

I want a bike that blasts from a full stop, not just freight train itself up to 50 after three blocks.

Seems reasonable to make it 50cc any cylinder but if its a stock cylinder you're gonna let people know so you'll have extra kudos.

I think "street legal" could be another interesting qualifier.. like headlight, brakes. 50/50 rideable bikes are more interesting than supermanning stripped down racers to 50.2mph.

Re: 50/50 rules

50cc, 2 mirrors and functional turn signals or it doesn’t count

Re: 50/50 rules

I’d say require proof of 50cc displacement by measuring bore and stroke.

Anything else goes. I’d like to see all the creative nonsense.

There’s so many ways to make a small engine push something fast.

Only real way to do that would be to pop off your head, measure it, reinstall, and then do the speed run all in one take with no video cuts

Re: 50/50 rules

must be 50cc cylinder + anything you want + must go 50mph.

What’s the difference if Bruce Springsteen is his shidoshi?

I think it should be stock cylinder only. There's some good 50cc kits out there.

My P6, for example has a 50cc Minarelli Compact System on it. With a bit of work, I could probably make it fit a V1. And that would just be cheating...

I guess if you have the means to “cheat” your way into the 50/50 club you could. But that kinda defeats the purpose?

Re: 50/50 rules

I always think stock Jug with pipe

and a carb. If you can do it with all stock parts your really winning and would crush any of the poorly tuned 70cc kitted out maxis at almost any rally. So many aftermarket 50cc kits are really nice out of the box.

NO HILLS

Also make it an optional but encouraged thing to record the air density, temp, humidity

Re: 50/50 rules

I mean, if you're really cheating for bragging rights on mopeds, you've got bigger problems. Build something cool, blast it, have fun.

It just feels good to ride something you built that's fun. I stopped worrying about top speed in pretty much every aspect of my life.

I’m cheating....using spare parts to make a 50cc Safari. Just because. Plan is to make this kit work in here. I have to trim the skirt a bit. Old V1 with no fan. 50cc TCCD Kit. Cool spacer thingy. Estoril pipe....carb? Idk PHBG19?

I’m going to use this frame. Already have a fancy pink powder coated tank. New wheels and forks. Probably won’t be till fall when I can get cranking on it. Going to get the motor right first before I dive into the bike.

Yesssss. Build what you into. Everyone trys to be the fastest🤷🏼‍♂️. Build what you want and how you want. If you end up blasting a few friends in the process it is an added bonus.

Turn signals? Like your left hand?
