Those arent dimples, just rounds in the blank coating

Likely have the same effect . Short term anyway .

Looks like ya need case induction to run as well! Would also be interested in seeing the ports. Also surprised its not watercooled. Do they make a head for the kit as well?

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Not much info about it on that site, but 18 sounds sweet:)

That's a beauty cylinder. And 650 euros is like totally acceptable for something small batch made.

I know the US moped market is budget friendly, but try buying an equivalent cylinder for Lambretta or Vespa scoots. Those dudes don't even bat an eye at spending 1000 euro to rebuild a bike, to basically STOCK functionality.

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

What you think about that toronda crankshaft? Puch shop also sell them. And i know that i do not need it but still i want it:)

But strange that there is no cylinder head, isnt it? Should you not use a correct squsih band with a racing cylinder like that?

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Sander Mulder /

Torondo is a bit new, cylinder is out since last week.

Crank is balanced for a 45mm piston, good quality, less vibration.

I dont know if there’s a matching head yet

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Is Torondo een herstart van Toro Racing Division (TRD)? Ik zie dat die hun facebook hebben verwijderd.

That helps

Thanks Sander, we really appreciate it.

We developped this cylinder during this winter and our driver Sarik Roufs tested it in 2 private training sessions already.

Combined with the right parts (exhaust, ignition, cylinder head etc.) this cylinder is even capable of producing quite a bit more then 18HP. We will upload a dynograph of one of our Toronda engines this evening.

Nee zeker niet... Toronda heeft niks met het vroegere TRD te maken.

Pictures of the ports will be available soon at our webshop. Its air cooled btw, while this is required for most Puch racing classes here in the Netherlands and Switserland for example.

We are also producing a CNC made cylinderhead with our advised combustion chamber shape and compression ratio. This head will be soon available at our webshop. Prototype pictures will be available at the shop this week.

As promised, the dyno graph of the engine that we used for the development work.

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Woahhhhhhh nice!

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

22hp from an e50. My mind is blown. Yeah not stock at all, but dang. Those Austrian engineers had no idea this would be a thing. They stamped 2hp at the most on these.

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Impressive for sure.. Sarik, can you comment on how long you'd expect a motor like that to last? i'm assuming that's primarily a race application and it may need "maintenance" after X number of sessions, etc?

From the sports car world, for example, you can coax several times the stock horsepower out of an old British engine (MG / Triumph) for the track, however the life of those engines may be measured in hours. It's all factored into the equation and most owners accept that...

Sander Mulder /

A little update on my 60cc resleeved gilardoni,

I destroyed it, due to some missing piston pin clips or the went out. More info soon. Cylinder needs to be bored to be useable again.

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Well, if I’m understanding that graph, the power starts around 10K and builds to almost 14K.

For us ordinary “performance” moped guys, 10K is like peak rpm for a “usuable” moped. As in, it doesn’t explode all the time and you can cruise around town.

At least, thats the timing and gearing I shoot for with porting and such. I am very close to Roffmans style though. Not his same methods, but I like going as fast as I can while not replacing stuff every 100 miles.

Still, it is hard to not dream and covet those screaming HPs from something like this. Much respect to those of you making it happen. I love watching it and maybe someday I will have the extra $/€ to build a wild machine for those days when moderation isn’t on the menu.

Matt Mahloch -- MBM Customs /

What’s up with that added jet on the TM24 on the website. That’s interesting.

Re: Puch maxi Track toy

Sander Mulder /

no big updates yet. split my engine today, a few points:

-Big end bearing doesn't feel fine

- there are a few signes of gas blowback in the engine, crankcase was a bit black.

probably because the ignition was not set right.

- no other things on the engine

so, crank got a new conrod today, cylinder gets a oversize piston next week,so the engine should be ready within 2 weeks.

and just a nice pic of the internals :))
