Puch E50 Hi-po clutch build?

Setting up my new three arm clutch on my new big bad brother engine. Not sure yet what springs I'm going to use yet, what is good weight for the arms? Mine are 74 grams also does anyone weigh the big end to the small like a automotive con-rod? I will be putting a brace on it and I do have every spring I will ever need.

Re: Puch E50 Hi-po clutch build?

The biggest thing with the 3 shoe clutch is going to ensure that all arms are opening at the same tension. I have been told a fishing scale works well for determining the tension on each arm. You can then adjust springs as needed to make sure each are pulling at the same pounds of pull. Other than that it sounds like you got it under control with the added brace and new springs.

I just installed the ESO springs on my 2 shoe and it made a huge difference. They fall between the blues and kickstart on tension.

I understand all that. I was asking aboot clutch arms.

Re: Puch E50 Hi-po clutch build?

yeah i never really balance them like that, just chop them off all about equal and grind to fine tune weight balance

it ain't really rocket surgery or anything, you'll notice a big difference by whacking off a third of the mass or whatever it ends up being but you'll still fine-tune using the screws

what you really want to do is look up 'hank kok performance clutch' and copy what he does.

Overpriced Parts /

I just drill lightening holes in the exact same spot In all the shoes If thick kickstart springs aren’t good enough
