Puch Techno Estoril vs. Estoril side bleed pipe

Mark Younggren /

Any noticeable difference between the two other the the side bleed is able to tune little bit. Everyone talks about how the classic Estoril is a solid all around pipe for the money that clears the maxi pedals and is easy to mount. Then there was the restrictor on the classic that was removed and I think they only sell it without now. Which again I heard mixed reviews saying the one with the restricter had a bit more low end. Thoughts anyone.....?

Side bleed runs a bit hotter so if your running points ignition/non retarding ignition heat could be a problem with some kits,

Roffman. I appreciate the info.

Estorils are almost soldout everywhere so a lot people must be running them and hopefully can chime in too.

Re: Puch Techno Estoril vs. Estoril side bleed pipe

I haven’t run the classic Estoril, but I got the sidebleed this summer after some recommendations and it really is great. I’m running it with points and a modest kit with a 15 Bing and haven’t found it to run particularly hot. Honestly if you’re thinking about getting it, just get it.

The old estorils don't have a restrictor in them, that's just something put out there by old heads who think anything but a straight through pipe is restricted.

The estroril's "restriction" really just gives you a great torque profile in the low-mids, which is EXACTLY where a mild setup needs it. Sure, this creates a bottleneck at hi rpms, but that's not a hindrance in most setups.

A mid and low torque pipe is what Iam looking for and I don’t like the circuit pipe although yes it’s great for torque. so second best would be estroil. Would the original be better then the side bleed for low and mid’s ?

A normal estroil is restricted about 900-1,000 rpm, call it what you want but there is a hi rpm restrictor inside it making a lot of the rear cone useless and increasing stinger length as well as being welded in crooked many times blocking stinger making for even less power,

I hated to cut open the pipes, remove that thing then reweld, after half a dozen I was sick of it that’s why I hounded Benji at treats to have them made 8-9 years ago without that hacked in metal crap inside.

I’m glad he did!

Removing it/not having that thing in there does soften the lowend a little bit but it revs out like a pipe should and rear cone acts like it should/what it looks like from the outside, it is improved dramatically, it becomes about the best mass produced Puch performance pipe for the price

Wow. Can’t deny the pictures as proof. Good to know about the older style pipe. Which leads me to two questions.....

Are all the estroils Pipes made with out the restrictors now?

Still didn’t answer original question is the side bleed better then the non side bleed “original”?

I answered the question many times, I dislike all side pipes of every brand for my Applications

Derestricted estroils are on backorder because many European factories still on Covid lockdown

There is no definitive answer what is better, it is what is better for your application

Re: Puch Techno Estoril vs. Estoril side bleed pipe

The answer is that proma circuit is better than both.

Lol.....nice Blake, but Iam over the proma circuit like I am over ranch dressing.

It’s better if you’d like to lose rpm for both circuit and all types of estroil pipes rev higher, Proma powerband is like “wow this is great” as it’s pulling hard in the mid range, then when you’re expecting it to rev out some more it just quits

Sooo Ken would you argue the Sid bleed is better then the circuit in your opinion??? In all around performance.

Re: Puch Techno Estoril vs. Estoril side bleed pipe

The side bleed with the adjustable end bleed is a versatile choice.

Yea the side bleed might be the choice for now then try the classic style when in stock.

Can you cap the end so it runs fully off the side bleed or maybe that would create to much heat and compression of fumes.

IT comes with a solid bolt in place that will have no adverse effects

Re: Puch Techno Estoril vs. Estoril side bleed pipe

Mark Younggren /

Got it then it comes with a few bolts that have holes like jets?

"comes with (3) m8 x 1.25mm allen bolts to adjust your back pressure! one bolt is just a regular m8 if yer not into that end bleedin action, one has a 2mm ID hole and one has a 4mm ID hole. try em all and see how it affects the power band of the pipe!! its like having a 42104392 different pipes in one."
